Professor Layton and the New World of Steam is debuting this year and it’s confirmed to be coming to PS5, marking the witty prof’s first time coming to Sony’s flagship console in his nearly 20-year history of solving mysteries.
New World of Steam, developed by Level-5, which has historically focused on Nintendo’s platforms, though has released games, especially as of late, to others, cases like Fantasy Life and Inazuma Eleven absolutely come to mind. Whether this game will fully jive with the PlayStation audience is to be seen, but hey, it’s another avenue of finding an audience, so of course seeing Professor Layton claw his way out of just being associated to Nintendo is fine by us.
Professor Layton and the New World of Steam will feature 3D cutscenes, new companions, and improved movement, which on paper does sound like the perfect reason to pivot to releasing across more than just Nintendo’s platforms.
