Why TLoU: Remastered Is An Absolute Must-Own

Bear in mind that I'm speaking from the standpoint of a particular collector, who only desires the best.

You know, I'm not a huge proponent of all these high-definition upgrades, remasters, and "definitive editions" of existing games. I don't have a problem with them, per se, but I think sometimes, we need to leave well enough alone. And with a new generation upon us, I believe it's far more important to embrace change and future freshness.

Even so, The Last Of Us: Remastered should be part of your library if you're a current PlayStation 4 owner. The bottom line is that it's exactly what an updated game should be: It makes the entire experience better by providing players with more than standard cosmetic upgrades. From top to bottom, it's an improved game, and that's worth rewarding the developers. On top of which, TLoU is an adventure that deserves to be experienced more than once, and this gives you the perfect excuse to kick off a new game. If you haven't yet played TLoU, the Remastered edition is a no-brainer.

In my estimation, we have to wait a bit before the true next-gen titles start coming down the pike. In the meantime, we should indulge; we should treat ourselves to one of the best games ever created and in the process, we might find a new appreciation for Naughty Dog's accomplishment. Thing is, I've noticed that if you start going through the game again, you're once again reminded of the colossal achievement that was TLoU. Few games can make you feel this way, which is precisely why the Remastered version deserves to be in your collection.

If for no other reason than to pay homage to the accomplishment in question.

It'll be neat seeing one of the most technically accomplished PS3 games get pushed at twice the framerate and pixel resolution with overhauled lighting implementation on PS4 in so little time.

and yah, this game will be in my PS4 definitive collection by the year's end.

my collection right now starts and ends with Transistor. Destiny is next.

and am I wrong in saying everyone might as well offload their Uncharted, GoW, Killzone, and Infamous PS3 games right now? You just know they'll all get re-released on PS4.

If you're so confident, you might want to bet more than the small blind.

This is why I wanted to have the DE Tomb Raider in my collection :)

PS3 was enough for TLoU for me.

I nearly clicked "keep it" on my gamefly rental of TR DE. would've only put me out $15.

EDIT: that was combined with my $10 of used game credit.
I grabbed Splinter Cell Blacklist for $3 instead.

Im not buying it until it falls to about 20 bucks. I've gone through the original twice in the last year and unless there are fundamental changes in overall gameplay experience, I see no reason to spend my money on ot again so soon, best game ever (no) or not. I'd rather save it to support another title, even though there are none that I don't have roght now.

Grounded mode wasn't as epic as I had hoped so my desire to buy this was very low. My lady wants me to play it again, on the ps4, so I'm pretty much forced to buy it again.

You catered to the right side Sony. You force the wallets of those who do not want to rebuy something. Very smart.

Last of Us Remastered and GTA 5. THOSE are what I call remasters especially GTA 5, looks like it got a major overhaul.

I was content with my experience with the original game. I still have the PS3 version and I even have 'The Art of The Last Of Us' on hardback. But even when I do get a PS4 this is not an essential purchase. I reckon I will pick this up at a later date, pre-owned at a cheap price. I just have no urge to go out there and rebuy it. I mean there are plenty of benefits with the upgrades, 1080p & I haven't even played the Left Behind DLC but I was content with the PS3 experience and feel no desire to re-buy the game just yet. However, if you have a PS4 and never played it on the PS3... THEN it is a must-own.

right, so your going to go spend 80+ bucks just to pay homage to the accomplishment?
yup, as the saying goes a fool and his money are easily parted!
for those who havent had a chance to play the game its the perfect opportunity, but for those who have played it which is most, whats the point of buying it again?
massive waste of time this was, especially considering how little weve seen of uncharted 4 and there for how far behind schedule it seems.
$ony and ND would of been far better off putting the developers wasting their time on this on uncharted 4 and hopefully pushing it forward that little bit.
at least to the point where it could of actually been shown as a live gameplay demo not just a teaser trailer!

exactly why E3 was so disappointing this year.
everyone expected 3 things.
uncharted 4 live demo.
halo 5 live demo.
zelda wiiu live demo.
and we got NONE of those!

nah still think its a bit early for that.
SSM are always one of the last studios to hit a new console, hell they didnt release something on the ps3 till 4 years after launch!
plus they had 2 projects in the works and one was canceled, so i doubt will be seeing anything from them for quite some time.
not to mention cory has said countless times that his game wont be revealed till 2015 E3 at the very earliest.
and im not so sure its a GOW, he just does not seem interested in working on GOW anymore when he left and the speech he did on the blog when they announced hes back, just seems to me like its a new IP.
plus if it was GOWIV why would it take them so long to do it?

$SM is the one studio im happy to wait for, they always release things quite late in cycles and like to take their freaking sweet time!
we should of seen something from $ony bend, $ony london studio, or at least something from one of their smaller outsourced studios like sanarzu the guys who did the HD remake and sequel to sly cooper.
hell we still dont know what the hell MM is working on, even though they have been at every single show since the ps4 announced, we STILL dont know what their doing!
seriously, $ony, WTF was the point of having MM at the ps4 reveal teasing their new game when 1.5 years later we still have seen JACK on their game!
same with QD, its pretty stupid to have them at the ps4 reveal, bring them back for E3 with the dark sorcerer demo, then E3 this year *crickets*.

Haven't played it yet, and don't have a PS4 yet. Will do eventually - have way too much to get through on the PS3 yet though.
Plus side - by the time the backlog is worked through a bit there will be a few more games out for the PS4!

Pre-ordered from PSN via my Playstation credit card for $50... Shortly after, this qualified as my first PSN purchase on the card, so I get a $50 gift card.

TLoU for free. Yeah, I'm pretty freaking happy!

This game is mediocre, please stop trying to pretend it was the second coming. It had bad gameplay and an okay story at best.

Most objective gamers from all 3 console groups admit this.

This is not on the level of God of War 3, or the Infamous series. Doesn't matter if it sold, it doesn't justice a re-release like this, its barely a year old and their hyping a re-make? This is ricidiculous.... And that PR from Sony saying its because people didn't play is bull... Like people didn't play Twisted Metal or Playstation Allstars right?
Exactly...

If it was a complete Infamous bundle or a Giant God of War bundle, it would be different, but please stop over-hyping this okay at best game, seriously...

Its stuff like this that makes people hate the PS4 and Sony fans. This fanboyism is why Sony is giving us weaker IPs and exclusives now compared to the XBox One.

Sunset Overdrive should have been a Sony exclusive, and you should all stop defending this nonsense....

They could have at least done a real follow up to Twisted Metal, how hard is it, seriously?

If you disagree with me, your a fanboy that doesn't want Sony to be a better company!

Don't except the bull, vote with your dollar!
Just get LOU second hand on PS3 if your really interested, don't waste your cash!

Show Yoshida we want better exclusives then the movies they showed at E3! I don't care if he wants to save money! Cough up some real exclusives Yoshida!

Bring back Syphon Filter! Pandemonium!
Come on... Little Big looks and plays like an Indie title..

None of these movies with occasional quicktimes thrown in...

Hell just res-skin Infamous and change some of the mechanics, theres a new IP there. Throw in a story, and just make the next Saints Row 4...

Its a shame when old-school fans care more about Sony then Kaz or Yoshida does!
