Super HD Remaster Floodgates Are Open: Go Nuts!

Awhile ago we asked your opinion on the growing number of super HD updates.

The responses were mixed but in general people thought that true classics, especially from the PS2 era, deserved a good update. However you thought that updated games from PS3 to PS4 should be at the very least a limited practice.

It seems that the gaming industry has an interest in profit that supersedes gamer opinion. Most seem okay with The Last of Us because it was considered an instant classic and it came late in the generation. With so many people new to Playstation hardware when they bought the PS4 it made sense to bring them one of this generation's defining experience.

Now there is some evidence of a PS4 version of Beyond: Two Souls. That game was a graphical triumph but not a critical or fan hit. Bringing it to PS4 seems more like a way to make up some lacking sales numbers. Alright, well maybe it's a good idea to bring such an unusual gaming experience to new PS4 converts as well.

I pretty much threw up my hands when I heard that Uncharted is now in the pipe for a graphical remake as well. There may be no official announcement but Sony boss Shuhei Yoshita calling the games a “good candidate” for remakes is enough to be pretty sure it will be coming, probably in a trilogy. After all, those same people who missed Uncharted because the didn't buy a PS3 should be able to play them right? Or maybe PS4 is aiming to become the redeemer of the harder times during the PS3 life cycle.

Before we could sigh and take a breath evidence showed up that Dark Souls II was also likely to get the super HD treatment. This is just gonna keep going on isn't it?

So now I'm saying to hell with telling these people to get their butts to work on new games, let's just air our personal favorites that deserve a super duper HD update. If I were to go fishing in the PS2 pool for another of these I would like to catch Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King. It was one of the very best JRPGs of that era and the clean cel-shaded graphics would look incredible in a PS4 update.

If I were to shop around the PS3 library for games that needed an update I might grab a Resistance trilogy and the first two inFamous games. I'd definitely want high graphics settings for Skyrim and Fallout 3.

HD remasters, super HD remasters, everything goes! What games deserve it? Go nuts.

It makes sense as the PS exclusives' graphics are capped at the highest resolution the console can output, and newcomers deserve to get a taste of what they missed last gen. Besides, Sony could really use the money.

On the other hand, it doesn't seem that bad an idea to have put some backwards compatibility on the console now does it? At least that way people wouldn't be complaining about the HD Remasters.

THIS:playstation now and bringing ps3 games to the ps4 is nice when you are a new playstation customer, but there are many many ps3 gamers and i gues many don't care much about ps3 games on ps4 and would like ps2 emulation on the ps4,and of course a little more new ps4 games, don't forget about us Sony

oh,and does anyone know any news about the ps2 emulation?i hear only about ps3 games on ps4......

I agree with DQ8, I also never got to really enjoy Rogue Galaxy because I only rented it back in the day. I also wouldn't mind seeing Dark Cloud with redone graphics (didn't care much for DC2, but I know a lot of people did). And as always, I would like a full LoD remake... Keep dreaming...

warhawk: remastered would be fun to see. No multiplayer, and keep the live action cut scenes.

Soul reaver would be awesome too. This time the team making it could have enough time to actually finish the first game. I always thought that the first game in that series got goth right.

Ring of Red for the PS2 would be good. I would love to see Valkyria Chronicles HD Collection happen as well. Sequels of the 2 game franchises would be even better.

How about none let the old games live in the past.its posts like this that makes them think its ok to remake games instead of bringing us new IPs, after all thats what we paid for

If i wanted to play uncharted of last of us or even gta thats what i have a ps3 for, idid not buy a ps4 to play ps3 games.. nuff said

Oooh, so many classics. MGS4 would be a good candidate for a spruce-up without needing to re-do the gameplay. MGS1 if you were going to do a game all over again, mixing it up substantially (and 2 and 3 while we're at it).

GTAVC and crash bandicoot 1.
or 3 bit hard to choose between the two they were both amazing games.
3 was more fun, but the original was FAR more challenging with some really fast paced but precise platforming required.

For PlayStation 2, 'Journey of the Cursed King' would probably be my pick as well. They might want to give 'Rogue Galaxy' another shot, too. Such a great game, but held back (seemingly) by a lack of name recognition.
And this is probably asking too much, but speaking of 'Beyond', I'm curious if Quantic Dream would ever be interested in giving 'Fahrenheit' an update.
'Deus Ex' is still one of the most fun games I've ever played, so a new coat of polish would work wonders, but it would need to be more than the standard HD update.

And as for any other PlayStation 2 titles, I would love to see the 'Max Payne' and 'Grand Theft Auto' series get an update, but only if it consisted of more than a graphical one.

I'm satisfied with the way most of my favorite PlayStation 3 games look. Maybe 'Grand Theft Auto IV' or BioWare or Bethesda titles. But those seem like they'd be really big jobs.

The Tenchu series, not the 360 exclusive one. Final Fantasy 12, Ape Escape, Final Fantasy 7-9, Crisis Core, Fallout 3/New Vegas, Rogue Galaxy, Syphon Filter, Legend Of Dragoon, Killzone 1, Onimusha 1-4, Resident evil 1-4, Oblivion, and Demons and Dark souls.

I wish they would make a few for the PS4, loved those games. And with the power of the PS4 they COULD make it a seamless MMO kind of like White Knights

Aside from the PS1 usuals that we always dream of(Legend of Dragoon, FFVII, several 3D platformers, etc) Tales of the Abyss would be my first candidate. Especially now that my PS2's broken.

The Tenchu games would be great too. I can't believe how rare ninja stealth games are. I mean come on, ninjas and stealth has to be one of the most obviously successful combinations possible.

I would have rather Sony offered an upgraded ps4 that had backwards compatibility.
That way you could play whatever classic titles you wanted without having to wait for your desired IP to be drawn from the cash-grab hat.

I still have my PS1 and PS2, but I don't have the space or inputs to have them all hooked up at once. Not to mention my PS2 has been broken and self-repaired at least 6 times.

Every time I see DQ8 somewhere, I remember how the reviewer from this site at the time had so incredibly obviously not really played the game before reviewing it. (Wasn't Ben, I know that much)

Of course, back in the PS2 days, I was incredibly critical of this site. The PS3 era seems to have turned the integrity around in the right direction.
