Racing and Fighting:
I really can't add any game to either category, because this year's racing games were just above average. Colin McRae 2.0, Jarrett and Labonte, and RollCage Stage 2 just didn't make the cut for me, so if you are looking for great racing games get Crash Team Racing for fun or Gran Turismo 2 for realism, supposing you haven't already.
Puzzle:

Skateboarding:
1) Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2 (Full
Review, Buy It) - I really couldn't think of where to place Tony Hawk 2 under, action, sports, or racing, so I just gave it its own category and slapped it under skateboarding. Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2 is arguably one of the years best games, just being edged out by the RPG bullies such as Final Fantasy IX, Chrono Cross, Vagrant Story and Legend of Dragoon. THPS2 is visually stunning, with huge environments that are based on real life counterparts, there are over fifteen skaters, including Tony Hawk, Bob Burnquist, Kareem Cambell, SpiderMan (yes SpiderMan), the return of Officer Dick, and tons more. THPS2 lets you create your own skate park and even your own skater, if THPS2 isn't the most addictive videogame in the world, I don't know what is. THPS2 is probably the only worthy game to be mentioned in this category, Grind Session was great, but no where near THPS caliber, just get Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2, and spend your winter break from school or work, pulling of Rocket Airs, 900s, Indies and many other tricks as your soar thirty feet in the air.
Extras and Accessories:
1) PSOne (Buy It) - The ideal stocking stuffer is the PSOne, because of its sleek new and small design, hell it's so small that it could very well fit in a stocking. Although there is no Parallel Port for the PSOne to use a GameShark, you can always get a GameShark CD-X, which works through your PSOne's memory card slot. The PSOne comes with a Dual Shock controller, AC adapter, and any other common cable that comes with the system. Later on in Spring 2001 a few third parties will release a LCD screen for the PSOne so you can take it on the go, but the LCD screen will retail for over $100. A great stocking stuffer for your Christmas holiday.
2) Multi-Tap (Buy It) - If you haven't done so already, pick up a multi-tap so that you can enjoy games like Wheel of Fortune 2, Crash Team Racing, and Madden NFL 2001 to their fullest extent with many friends. A must have item for any PSX/PSOne owner, and don't forget the controllers that go along with it.
3) Dual Shock Controller (Buy It) - If you are thinking of picking a third party controller, don't even think about it! I don't even want to get into why you shouldn't buy third party peripherals, just do me a favor and get the Dual Shock/Analog Controller for the Playstation, make sure it's official and says Sony on it.
That about does it for the Playstation shopping guide, I will add one more thing though, I believe that Lunar 2: Eternal Blue Complete deserves to be added to the list of RPG games, but I ran out of space so I just want to add it in the conclusion. The re-make of the Sega CD classic is even better than before, RPG fans, ESPECIALLY old-school fans 'must' purchase Lunar 2: Eternal Blue Complete. I hope you folks enjoyed this PSX shopping guide, now print it out and hand it to your mommies and daddies.
