GabeCube Thoughts: Part 2
It has been more than six months since the GameCube's first revealing by Nintendo at SpaceWorld 2000. I found GameBoy Advance an eye dropping piece of work, I couldn't wait to get my hands on it, but as many of you remember my first impressions of the GameCube were less than positive. I was so turned off by the console and even decided to give it a little harsh nick-name "GayCube", let me put that all behind me, as I have finally seen the light that I couldn't before in my ass. Not to say that I was being hasty, because all of that talk was first-impressions, and from what I saw in the beginning, my first-impressions weren't so hot. But now six months later, it seems as if the GameCube is getting better and better the more I think and look at it.
3rd party support you ask? Nintendo has got it this time around, EA Games and EA Sports have signed on, Namco, Konami, Rockstar and Activision have as well, so it is very likely that the GameCube won't suffer from the mistakes that Nintendo 64 did. With Silicon Knights now being exclusive publishers for Nintendo Too Human is a title that is guaranteed to be only seen on the GC. Of course Rare would return with possible sequels for Banjo, Donkey Kong, Killer Instinct and Conker. Then Nintendo themselves will grab the gear shift of the GC and finally bring back Luigi and best of all Samus Aran in an all new Metroid game! I couldn't be more excited about Samus returning to gaming, the only game she appeared in was Super Smash Bros. and that was a shame, she deserved a whole new sequel. The return of Luigi should be just as huge as Metroid's. Link will once again return in an all new adventure, but this time hopefully Ganon will be no more. So this time around it looks like Nintendo has gotten back on its feet again, with an included 56K modem, and a good variety of other add-on and upgradeable features, the GC is surely going to be Playstation 2's biggest challenge. Basically it looks like my thoughts on the GC have changed greatly, so much that I have just pre-ordered one from a local Stop 'N Save (EBWorld).
P.S. While writing this, I was not drunk and PSX Extreme was not approached by lawyers from Nintendo.
