PSXE Game Of The Year Nominees

The year is almost over, which means it's time to issue our list of nominations for the many awards we plan to hand out.

There were plenty of amazing games this year but perhaps the three that stand head-and-shoulders above the rest are Uncharted 2: Among Thieves, Killzone 2 and Assassin's Creed II. This unbelievable trio of the best of the best nailed down the majority of nominations, although we of course had to pay tribute to other gems, like Batman: Arkham Asylum, inFamous, Dragon Age: Origins, Street Fighter IV, and others. The question is, which titles do you think will win? That's the entire point of this little preview, after all; to generate a good amount of discussion. Also, if you have an idea for an award that we haven't thought of, feel free to let us know. It's certainly not too late to add one!

The winners will be announced when the year closes, on either December 31 or January 1, so stay tuned...

Uncharted 2 and Killzone 2... Really hard. I'll go for Uncharted

But the best category is the "Most Anticipated Games". And those will surely be the nominees for GOTY 2010

As for the best music, I don't know why not a single webpage at least nominated Killzone 2. That game had an AWESOME soundtrack.

And since this is one of the few webpages that is almost xbots-free, the best shooter category hopefully will not be won by MW2. At least Killzone will hopefully get an award there.

Cause xbots are the ones who mostly play MW2.

Besides, Most in the site will agree with me when I say that Killzone 2 is better than MW2, cause here we appreciate a game for what it is, not for the hype that surrounds it.

Xbots, on the other hand, just buy a game for the hype, they do not care if it is good or not.

Good point *thumbs up*. And as far as I know, The are millions of 360 out there, so what you want to say is that many of those 360 owners will buy MW2, thus leading to the conclusion that: where MW2 wins best shooter, and people vote for the winners, means that that site is infested with xbots.

Killzone 2 for best acting ? As much as I love the game , I have to say that Rico and Natko are a curse on gaming and I get a little dumber every time I hear either of them speak .

Wow, lots of nominees. Uncharted 2 will obviusly win the most here but i think that ratchet and clank is a better game than assasins creed 2 and infamouse, so i hope that wins some award mainly best action adventure. But we all know how much Ben liked AC2. But why isn't pj shooter in any of these (i might of missed it though). It is my second fav psn title this year (aside from fat princess) and it doesn't even get nominated!

How can you put SF4 in as a game of the year nominee and NOT have the PS3's BEST SELLING GAME Modern Warfare 2 in? This will cause this site to lose ALOT of respect. MW2 destroyed Uncharted 2 in sells. Why? Because the majority of gamers like that type of game better.

American gamers have spoken. All 3 million US PS3 gamers that bought MW 2. How many American PS3 gamers bought Uncharted 2? 600k? lol.

I do think that mw2 deserved a nomination for game of the year, but I disagree with your reasoning. You say it was the biggest selling ps3 game so therefore it deserves to be nominated.

You are also making it sound as though uncharted was not as good of a game with your evidence being sales again. Sales should have absolutely nothing to do with award nominations in my opinion.

If that was the case, Demon's Souls would not have been nominated for anything on any site, and from what I hear it is a great game. Plus there would be so many crap wii games that would be ahead of Uncharted 2 for game of the year if people followed your reasoning. Sales and awards should have nothing to do with each other in any industry.

I agree that it's a shocker that mw2 was not nominated, but can't you come up with better reasons than sales. How about that it's just all around awesome. As for who I think deserves game of the year, I would say either killzone 2 or uncharted 2. Those were the best. Modern Warfare 2 would be third in my mind. But definitely deserved at least a nomination, great game.

Drithe as much as i agree to what your trying to say you obvisouly cant get your facts straight! Uncharted 2 has sold well more than 600k... Just cus a game sells well doesnt make it a GOTY nominee. Its all about quality!

i will agree that MW2 deserves a GOTY nomination atleast but PSXE doesnt like it which i seen coming! You cant discredit a good game, but it has been discredited here time and again by even the readers because KZ2 is a great game. with that said just cus KZ2 is great doesnt mean MW2 is bad. just my opinion. That seems to be the only logical reason a lot of readers have, "KZ2 is so much better", cool i agree but that dont mean MW2 is horrible.

I will say though DRITHE you spoke with no intentions of respect or facts and probably are a fanboy of sorts...

I guess all in all it dont really matter cus Unchared 2 deserves the win!

In the case of MW2 though, the sales reflect on a good game! In some cases though that doesnt happen! But i believe you wrote an article on the comparisons of UC2 and MW2, and that was about good games usually selling well, and you were dissapointed in the sales of UC2 which was excellent. As far as MW2 is concerned:

Mw2 is my greatest disappointment for the generation. I really wanted to love it after the PERFECT Cod4. What they tried to create was a frantic more team oriented FPS but created campfests with people so addicted to killstreaks you will mistake CTF for TDM....

Well there is always Battlefield Bad Company 2....

I just want it to be known I think that it is more so the players that have made this game disgusting to me. The hacked leaderboards which don't mean shit anymore, the prestige 10 that everyone hacked as well, the underpowered snipers with overpowered dual-shotties. Just I'm done with it...

i have an opinion too! you're wrong. I think MW2 is excellent, and ill probably never be able to convince you of that. See i can do it too, funny how that works!

The difference between you and i though is i still think all the other nominees deserve to be up there along with MW2. Just cus i think MW2 should be atleast nominated doesnt mean i think it should win, and doesnt mean that i think its somehow better than all the other games nominated. just cus you dont like a game (MW2 in particular) Doesn't mean other people wont! Just cus you have an opinion doesnt mean its the right one! Thats why games are so great they always cater to someone, but thats what makes the industry horrible, is people become fanboys of sorts and push there opinion! anyways as i said just cus a game should be nominated doesnt mean it should win GOTY necessarily, Uncharted 2 deserves that honor this year!

BTW PSXE gave MW2 an 8.9 thats a great score. so if your somehow trying to say that all PSXE wont be able to convince the people who enjoy MW2 that its in your opinion a bad game, i think your mistaken, because that score proves its a great game on this website!

@ kevinater321 - Hey buddy you know I respect you. I do have those games you mentioned and I do play them almost daily (except KZ2 because I just got it last week and I'm too deep into AC2 to stop). Admittedly though, I'm not one to sit around and "look forward" to stuff. I play what I got, but I'm a little perturbed at the lack of RPGs this past year. Ben's nominees kinda point out the sad state RPGs are in.

@ WEWE - If it weren't for WRPGs, we'd have no RPGs at all. Count your lucky tomatoes.

thats one thing i hate about Australia if your under 40 you cant drive a turbo, supercharged or V8 vehicle.
well you can but not many insurance companies will want to know you, and the ones that do will charge you 2 legs, 2 arms and a eye.

Woah your right. I had a blast playing resident evil 5, it should definately be winning some "best action game" awards. Many were disapointed that it wasn't a horror game but I don't think anyone was disappointed in it as an action title.

Got to admit that I had Resident Evil on my shelf for ages and barely touched it. Now i have finally sat down to play it and am really enjoying it. Perhaps it's a love hate thing with this game for some people, im not sure.

Best Graphics
* Batman: Arkham Asylum
(I really gotta give the edge to my man Batman here, those graphics were just so well done. The PC version really shows what the designers really put into this game.)

Best Music
* Guitar Hero 5
(Still like Rock Band 2 better though)

Best Sound Effects
* Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2
(Great environmental sound effects.)

Best Acting
* Uncharted 2: Among Thieves
(As I said before, overall goes to Uncharted 2, single best performance, which could be its own category, would go to Mark Hamill)

* Dragon Age: Origins
(Uncharted 2 had a great movie like story, but Dragon Age just has a lot more depth and breadth in my opinion.)

(Mostly I can't stand multiplayer deathmatches for too long but Uncharted 2 made me love it again)

(haven't played K2 but I played a bit of MW2 and it was decent enough for what it is, though not my cup o' tea)

* Uncharted 2: Among Thieves
(In my opinion it is really between these two. My pick would be Dragon Age: Origins. Already on my 3rd play-through and I'm still uncovering new layers. I've played Uncharted 2 twice and while both times were fun. The second time just wasn't quite as good as the first.)

really jackyl? Uncharted 2 pretty much puts avereything to shame in the graphics department. ND did so well, they set a standard that a lot of devs. will have a hard time meeting! Not taking anything away from batman but the eyes dont lie!

i really dont care what links you give me online, and i will not even click on it because its all about whats on my t.v. If its something with true evidence i will look though.

Since i havnt gotten to see that link yet, i assume what your showing me is what batman looks like and ive seen it on my t.v. where it should truly be compared. And i will argue all day that Uncharted 2 is by far superior to Batman in the graphics department (let alone all around). Again im not saying that batman wasnt spectacular but saying it looks better than Uncharted 2 is bold. but your rightful to what you believe!

I still think the level of detail, as you can now see in the links, was just a good bit better in Batman.

Overall I like Uncharted 2 as a better game than Batman. However, graphics-wise, Rocksteady did a fantastic job in th e level of detail put into its characters that I don't think we've ever seen before. Not even in Crysis (which Crysis rains supreme because of the level of detail in a far more open environment) have we seen faces like these.

Graphics are not just the level of detail, it is the sum of many parts, and having all those parts run at a good consistent frame rate. Uncharted pushed the envelope beyond what the Unreal engine can produce on the PS3.

I agree it isn't just the level of detail. And Batman ran as smooth as anything else. Now if we want to talk about artistry that's another category.

And since Ben was considering such things as best multi-platform I don't see this being a problem. Also we should be looking this from the stand point of what developer worked on creating the best graphics. In the case of Naughty Dog vs Rocksteady, if we look at what they put out, to me it is clear that Rocksteady has the edge.

actually we have seen that type of detail in the faces! have you looked at Uncharted 2? The facial expressions alone, coincide with each tragedy, or event, etc. That alone is far better than what took place on batmans emotionless face throught out Batman AA.

Lsten if all your reffering to is detail, (which i still think Uncharted 2 holds better) thats not all graphics are!

I still want to know what you think rocksteady did better than Naughty Dog. Uncharted 2 is unparralelled in all areas of graphics when compared to Batman. So i guess besides those photos you showed me that could have been tweaked for all i know, (although still dont look beter than UC2) i want some factual evidence. i mean gimme something to argue here because all your saying is detail, when its clear there was not as much detail in batman, than Uncharted 2 and thats obvious!

See what you are talking about is animation. Not graphics. The overall facial expressions of Uncharted 2 are better than Batman... well there is room for an argument even there as since Batman is a very stoic character of course he stays more straight faced while Drake is more emotional and funny and can't keep his emotions from showing on his face. I'd definitely would rather play poker with Drake than Batman! Now on the other hand take the Joker. Rocksteady put a lot into his crazed maniacal expressions.

Also, Uncharted 2 has a ton more (be it many of them brief) cutscenes. Now I'm not entirely but aren't these all prerendered? As for in-game animation who has more? I think Batman may have more. The fluid fighting techniques and stealthy takedowns. Not to say Uncharted 2 doesn't have some great hand to hand fighting and takedowns, I just think animation wise there is probably more that has been done in Batman.

I have to wonder if you have been reading my entire posts as I've stated in my first post how I played Uncharted 2 through twice, plus tons of time in multiplayer. And no those images are not tweaked in any way. Just simple unedited screen shots. Though I'll take your suspicion as a compliment as I wish I had that kind of skill.

As I've said before I love both games though I put Uncharted 2 as a better game than Batman AA. However I am feverishly awaiting the next game that can match or exceed the graphics in Batman. The kind of detail where you can see each piece of individual stubble on a guy's face, the horrible random pockmarks from a bad case of acne, hairy sweaty arms, life-like looking clothing materials. When I first started to play Batman I literally drooled over the graphics. With Uncharted 2 the only drooling was over Chloe.

well we agree to disagree lol! its cool i mean a healthy argument is great in my opinion and this it was! the only problem is we'll never be able to sway eachothers decision!

I must say though the way clothes and accessories were rendered on Drake well in Uncharted 2 period, were so good. I love being able to tell ebjects apart, and with great detail. Rather than have them look blended. And as you said the sweat drinched arms in batman, or the way Clothes got soeaked with water in Uncharted 2! I dont know i gotta go with Uncharted 2 still...

I did read your posts cus i wouldnt comment otherwise, that'd be insulting to you and myself.

I'll say again both games are great and both games look great, but in overall quality Uncharted 2 is phenomenal!

Oh, I agree with a lot of what you said. The clothing textures were also very well done for Uncharted 2. Chloe's clothes getting wet during the chase scene with the injured videographer was a... fine example of the PS3's technological achievements.

Still, we'll agree to disagree. I wonder if Ben and the boys are reading all of these comments. I'm sure they are quite thorough in their analysis of these games, though I can also imagine some of what has been said in these comments might shed light on something possibly overlooked.

TheJackly, without even having played the games, most people including ND and RS will disagree with you because U2 was exclusively developed and optimized for the ps3, while Batman wasn't. All the time and resources were spent by ND to get the most out of the ps3's Cell, with new techniques and technology, while RS aimed merely at getting a comparable experience across the ps3 and 360, with the dated Unreal engine.

Now after playing the games, on a proper TV, the difference is obvious, If it isn't to you, I'm afraid you need to get your eyes checked, get a new TV, or both.

I'm pretty sure the results will be quite anticlimactic here, knowing all too well on what game the Administrator tends to lean heavy on. That's fine.....but UC2 has no business even being NOMINATED for "Best Multiplayer". Other than that, it all looks good from what I've played.

For the recommendations, I just don't understand the Best Studio/Developer thing, even though I know other sources hand that out. What's it saying? That they made the best game...? That they impressed us the most? Isn't that just GotY? Let's just say that whatever wins GotY gets this.

There are a few others I like, though. We might do a Best Multiplatform Game category. That's a good idea. Awards for individual acting performances...eh, I'll think about it. I just think Best Acting encompasses an entire cast and that's far more important. But these are certainly common awards these days.

And we'll steer clear of the negative ones, like "Biggest Disappointment" and whatever. These are supposed to be AWARDS. ;)

I agree with the sentiment about publisher/GotY. Same thing.

However with acting. There is certainly a big difference between a stand out solitary performance and overall performance of the cast. In some cases maybe the best overall cast also has the stand out performance by an individual in that cast. But as is my opinion, Mark Hamill's performance of the Joker was by far better than any other single performance. Better than Drake, Chloe, that guy from the Brutal Legend game.

I hope MLB 09: The Show wins for the Sports category. The developers seem to actually listen to what the fans want and they add that to the game. Custom soundtracks, custom batter walk up music, online leagues, etc... The game to me has improved every year, something many sports games fail to do in my mind.

Great nominations. I was a bit surprised not to see Brutal Legend in the best music category. If there were a sixth most anticipated game, I'd add the Last Guardian. Not that I've played it, but isn't Forza a good racing game?

BTW this is completely offtopic, but with all the final fantasy 13 talk going around I felt the need to bring this up.(I'm also surprised no one has brought it up)

Final fantasy 7, regarded by many as the best rpg ever made, has been on the playstation store for about six months now. The title has been on the top 10 every week since it's release in June. The fact that it been doing really good business on the PSnetwork, might prompt Square into making a remake. It would seem like a perfect business move.

Final Fantasy 7 is the game that established the playstation 1 and helped it beat out the 64, so who knows maybe if square did a remake that was exclusive to ps3 , "lightning could strike twice".

If anyone that knows me, I have not been a fan of Tekken since Tekken 3 I wasn't expecting a lot from Tekken 6 but even I was disappointed by it.

Street Fighter 4 was great. But It took it a while to get its Online portion to become something that was fun to play. Netcode sucked for a long time.

Blazblue not only was a brand new IP. It had a solid fighting engine. A story mode that didn't suck. and its online is still the best there is for a fighting game.

KOF XII....... God what a horrible pile of excrement that turned out to be. BIGGEST disappointment of 2009 by far.

I agree with Oyashiro. Blazblue should get this award. Amazing fighting system, great story, great voice-acting, spectacular OST, varied roster (even though there were only 12 chars)and great 2-D graphics. I think this is better than SF4 .

I didn't expect this at all. Game of the Year, and MW2 isn't in there?! Wow! We all know Uncharted 2 is GOTY but at least MW2 should be there instead of SFIV or DAOrigins or BatmanAA to acknowledeg it?!
I'm not gonna say put it there because it sold but MW2 itself is a QUALITY game, believe that.

Heck you could NOT compare MW2's multiplayer to Killzone 2, MW2 is miles and kilometeres ahead of any other fps shooter. Where else could you get almost all the weapons in the world in a game? Where else could you call in Pavelows, Attack Helicopters, Harriers, Nuclear Bombs, Sentry Guns goes on and on and on. First ever shooter that has both first person and third, and the third its not even a gimmick but works well.

I think its not fair to think IW didn't put much effort in MW2. What else do you do in Killzone 2 after beating the campaign?! If your not fighting at Radec academy is the other place with the all-red color-scheme. In MW2 you have Spec Ops to add to the longevity. You tell me where else in any other fps do you have such loads and tons of customizations. Ben you guys are busy and I see you haven't spent much time with MW2, I can understand that but it makes it seem you guys disagree with the other critics, which is wrong.

We've both spent all sorts of time with it. What you're saying is entirely opinion and if you want additional proof, go over to GameSpot. MW2 didn't win Best Competitive Multiplayer Game of 2009...Killzone 2 did. KZ2 is a superior shooter in just about every way; having a few more options in a multiplayer mode that is far from perfect and STILL feels like the age-old sliding-on-glass FPS formula from a decade ago, doesn't make for a great game.

We gave MW2 an 8.9, which we believe it deserves. Origins, Batman and others got 9+. It's not like we scored MW2 higher and then ignored it in the GotY category.

I spent 150 hours plus on Killzone 2.

I have spent 100 hours on Modern Warfare 2.

My point? They are both excellent games, and I still play them both.

Now while K2 dominates MW2 visually, MW2 seperates itself from every MP game out there with the customization weapon features and challenges. Plus, the killstreak awards are always entertaining to boot.

Killzone 2 would of ran away with the best FPS of all time if it would have included the option for a "Hardcore" setting. It's why I'll spend more time on MW2 then Killzone in the end...and hopefully, that's what Killzone 3 is for!!

MW2's online formula is unrivaled, it has that "gotta play one more round" addictiveness to it.

Sure KZ2 has better graphics, but the actual MP fun factor doesn't compare. Most online matches in KZ2 stick to Radec (for spawn killing) which spoils the experience IMO.

MW2's maps are better designed for MP as well. It's not hard to see which developer has more experience creating an enjoyable MP game.

Hi all,

I can see a lot of disappointment in so many comments about games not getting any love from Ben and the team.

As much as I don't understand the whole mechanics behind what game is nominated in what category and gets what award, I'd like to propose a different solution.

Maybe from next year Ben could pick some of the most outspoken and rational readers (BikerSaint, www, WorldEndsWithMe, Highlander just to name a few) and send them a list of categories asking for their opinions as for the winner of each. That way we could have awards based on the opinion of many gamers, and the PSXExtreme team would not get so much heat for not including this or including that.

But that's just my idea.

Actually, as far as I can see, the only complaints involve MW2 not being nominated for GotY.

And while we may have a Reader Favorite category or something next year, I'm not sure about anything else. Game of the Year Awards are always done by the staff of the source...I don't think we'll change that, regardless of how much we value our readers. :)

HAAAAA, like Ben & Arnold would ever give me the keys to the candy store, I'd wind up being accused of escaping Arkham Asylum(HINT: you know who, green hair, wide lips, white grease paint) LOL.

You really wouldn't want me handling any voting chores because of 3 major deficiencies in my gaming habits.....

!. Although I'm always trying to collect any & all of the games I don't already have yet(yes, even the crappy ones), I don't play the RPG's, sports, music games, most strategy, or multiplayer. I like the puzzle, platformers, shooters, racing(though I suck at the GT5 demo), and military, and fighter jet games.

2. I only do single-player modes.

3. Since I'm a collector, I usually buy most of my games a bunch at a time, and at a low "used" price. So I sometimes have to wait well over a year to get those same games once they've gone down to my price-point. And also, since I buy used, It's "hit or miss" because I'm also at the mercy of whether or not that used game will even be there on the store rack when I'm on one of my game-hunting safaris.

So since I haven't even played over 1/2 of the game listed yet(only recently picked up Uncharted 1, inFamous, & R2) I must humbly decline partaking in any voting(meaning, my own voting preferences of course) on this thread whatsoever.

i was really disappointed with ac2; the voice work was good for ezio,but i dont speak italian:goty nominee over infamous is shocking to me. even if infamous had missions that could be done that were similar to other missions the game offered more quality than ac2 did(from a gamer perspective not a game viewer)and ac2 had way more redundancy. i just dont see what everyone is so up in arms over ac2 about. and, the only other multiplayer game that ive played this year that was better or close to killzones initial quality is red faction guerrilla; i mean uc2 multiplayer is good but its structure is not supportive of good multiplayer matches:although it was clean and good. and, i hope kz2 gets best graphics cause frame for frame it had no competition.riddick was good i had it but its faults were glaring:infamous was a way better shooter and red faction was good too. im dumbfounded borderlands was nominated in a category but wasnt included in the best art direction nominee. since the most anticipated is for next year but the awards are for this;please dont overlook red dead redemption and battlefield bad company 2 is crazy(and ive just been playing the demo).

ok, i know its hard being an editor and making nominations for games but i had to say those opinions.

So, if the mark of a great game is one that you cannot imagine trading in for something else then in my opinion Uncharted 2 and Killzone 2 are the best. They are head and shoulders above anything else this year.

Loved Assassins Creed 2 (the cut scenes are a bit dodgy but everything else is superb) but after 25 wonderful hours I had done everything apart from get all the feathers and thought that was enough.

Modern Warfare 2 was a blast for 10 hours then my eye was wandering elsewhere. Killzone 2 is just meatier and more strategic. It's a grown up FPS!

Unfortunately I have a trade one to buy one policy as I've got a wife, kids and a mortgage to pay each month. Survival of the fittest...

Enjoying Batman at the moment and that's up there with Uncharted 2 in the cut scene graphics and voice acting.

Uncharted 2 is the GOTY by a country mile...

Just been a wonderful year for gamers and look forward to next year with Heavy Rain and GT5 high on the wish list.

i dunno man; if you can name one good activision game thats been released in the last year thats not based on music: then you did the impossible.i think people who dont have to be critical of games but are paid to do such can see through a large part of other peoples projections about the quality of a title.i boycott'd activision after buying prototype, so i never bought mw2;but the track record is ugly for them.if you dont have access to titles that are hyped and one comes along that is im sure that has an effect on your opinion of the quality of said title.the last good activision game ive played was tony hawk with darth maul in it; and even that was poor.im not trying to hate on mw2 but sales dont equate respect from this gamer. after having played r2 when w@w was released and kz2 when there were few fps's to play i didnt want to waste the time to even figure an equation that equaled activision making a good game finally.too many false positives.but if you say you like the game cool; is it really a game that you are saying is head over shoulders above all the other titles released this year or in the same category of excellence as the other nominees(excellence means to excel, to go beyond a limit or standard). i mean really it did not excel past even r2 and r2 is last year and some people feel kz2 and r2 are different shooters that deserve equal praise; so ill be unipodic it did not excel past mw1, let alone reach an echelon that is equal to the other goty nominees. but i agree that ac2 should be stricken from goty nomination and infamous or some other great game that came out should be in its place.

long story short nash im not gonna thumb you down but i dont even subconsciously think mw2 was snubbed.

I think the Most Overlooked category here is much better than this weeks pole: What's the most under-appreciated game of 2009?

How can you say that Infamous or Killzone 2 are underappreciated? Yet most people have voted for the two, rather than something like Demons Souls.

Just a gripe I had...

You should really take that Tiger Woods game off there. The Wii version comes with 27 courses, while the PS3 and xbox versions only have 16, with the remainder available for download at additional cost ($7.50 each?). That's a spit in the face for gamers.

uncharted 2 was amazing. killzone 2 got best shooter as even though mw2 draws me in more online, as the story mode is concerned, which is more important, killzone 2 was something else. there was a real feel to it. i love it at the end when you and the team are like 'this is it, we gotta go and get him'. bloody hard that mission with the teleporting tw*t.

I think for those of you who have been complaining, just stop. No matter how much you complain, it won't change the games already nominated, if anything, you're making yourself look foolish. Complaining won't get you anywhere, just let it be. I'll use sports as an example. When you see a flag thrown in football or a whistle blown in futbol, hockey, etc. The majority of what you see is players and/or coaches complaining or outraged, but despite how much they "cry foul" do you see any of the refs buckling? No.

On the other hand, one thing is to complain and another thing is to disagree. There's a difference when you write some of this absurd garbage or when you submit a comment respectfully disagreeing. The nominations are made, do you really think that Ben or any one from the PSX staff is going to change their mind? No, because they already made up their mind, so just let it be. All the complaining is just going to make you seem foolish in front of everyone, I'm pretty sure Ben, along with everyone at PSX would rather see a difference of opinion, not any of these bratty comments some have made. I mean, it is called an argument right? Doesn't mean arguments have to resort to whining. Rather, just comment what you would have preferred or would have rather seen instead of bickering like a bunch of babies.

To the PSX staff: Good job on the nominations, you guys nailed it.

That's exactly the point I was trying to get across, I just think some people need to relax a little bit, this is supposed to be a place to post ideas and share differences of opinions, not argue and bicker. You said it best Ben, the "my opinion is fact" syndrome. I'm going to have to steal that line! haha

I'm not sure which article I saw it on, but there was one person who commented saying something to the lines of "critics are only people with opinions" (I'm not sure the wording is right, just off the top of my head), and i just thought that was down right ignorant and insulting. Looks like he has no idea what goes into the job you all do.

I have to say, I have been through a lot of sites, IGN is one of the more recent ones I had read, and I have to honestly say ever since joining PSX, I've never had to leave. I thoroughly enjoy what you guys offer here at PSX and I appreciate the effort you all put in it as well. I really appreciate the time you guys put into your articles, I can see it, they are some of the best I've read. Not to mention, you all at PSX are always getting involved in the forums, and that's awesome to see the author, along with the staff, taking time with their readers and sharing some thoughts.

I know, I've always said footballers looked stupid when whining to the referee when the decision has already been taken but the point we're trying to make here is MW2 shoulda been there at least, the key words there is 'at least', nothing more. Putting SFIV and some others there..... c'mon, games like sports and fighting don't usually get GOTY.

In my eyes this the FIRST ever time psxe has made a blunder and am letting it slide, our one and only family site lol. There are times we don't agree with each other, and that's life.

You know, I usually hate it when something takes all the praise and awards; because one, it usually doesn't deserve it, and two it just makes all the other significant competition look pale in comparison. But honestly, when I look at Uncharted 2 and all the list of categories along with the other contenders, I just feel that Uncharted 2 snags the gold. I don't believe it boasts the best multiplayer however.

I have yet to play Killzone 2 so I don't know if that was better than MW2. So in my case, I would say that MW2 wins multiplayer GOTY. That is WITHOUT my knowledge of Killzone 2's multiplayer action. I've only been hearing great things about Killzone 2's multiplayer and story mode and from what I've heard, it's a must-get.

When playing multiplayer, I think the gameplay being solid, satisfying, and fun are the most important elements. I know this is true for MW2, but is it the same for Killzone 2? I'm pretty sure either K2 or MW2 will take home the prize. So I see the winner as the possessor of the best gameplay elements.

The tough one for me is AC2 and U2. The thing is, AC2 has been pulling me in more than U2, but I think it is mostly because of the premise and the sci-fi story that, while flawed, totally draws me in, dunno why. When I become totally objective and honest with myself, it is pretty clear that U2 is a better game...

FYI, we are adding Brutal Legend to the Best Music category; it was just an oversight on our part. It should most definitely have been there.

Poor inFamous and Killzone. They are missing out on so many awards because of Uncharted. Uncharted does deserve them though of course. If they don't end up winning anything, you should give them awards anyway.
