A Gamer's New Year's Resolutions
I suppose we all have to make a few, as we're imperfect beings who constantly need improvement. But how's about some game-centric resolutions? Here are mine.
I resolve to keep an open mind about more genres
I actually make this resolution almost every year since I played RPGs almost exclusively back in the late '90s. I've come a long way and in all honesty, I love playing great games in just about every genre. However, I always say I try to avoid titles in the flight, fighting, and WRPG genres, primarily because I've never really gotten into any of those categories at any point in my gaming career. Even so, 2009 opened my eyes to the likes of IL-2 Sturmovik: Birds of Prey, Street Fighter IV and Dragon Age: Origins. And although I probably would never have played the first two for too long, Origins really grabbed me in a way that few WRPGs have in the past. While I was reviewing Birds of Prey and Heroes Over Europe, I found I was having more fun than anticipated and even though SFIV proved too frustrating for me, I played it for quite a while. This is why you always need to keep an open mind...you never know what you might find.
I resolve to keep a closer eye on the Network
Even with the many great games I've taken off the PSN, I still don't check the new releases on the PSN as often I should. One would think that after simply adoring titles like Flower, Echochrome, Wipeout HD, Shatter, Magic Ball and others, I'd be routinely going through any and all new releases on a weekly basis. And yet, towards the end of last year, the weeks started to fly by and I found myself getting behind in terms of PSN content. I got to some releases a little late and although they weren't exactly fantastic, they were fairly worthwhile experiences. Besides, with thatgamecompany working on their next game, I'll be guaranteed to nab that one, and many of the PSN exclusives just seem to keep getting better with time. So yeah, I should definitely hit that Network icon on my PS3 every Thursday.
I resolve to take no offense to the "gamers" who give real gamers a bad name
I maintain a vain belief that the majority of the immature gaming community will grow up, but with every passing year, I'm repeatedly disappointed. Bastions of idiocy still exist within communities all across the 'Net (N4G, Destructoid, etc.) and no matter what I do to avoid them, remnants of that rampant retardation tend to find their way to my eyes. I used to get frustrated, basically because I know these people make gamers look like abusive, entirely negative losers with gigantic superiority complexes, and I didn't appreciate it. But I've resolved to take no further notice; there isn't anything I can do about it, besides help run a website that makes a conscious effort to keep only civil, knowledgeable, relaxed members. If you guys know others who suffer through the crap we don't have to deal with, invite them over to PSXE. :)
Miscellaneous
I have non-gaming resolutions, too, but I won't bore you with the details. I want to be able to row for a straight 45 minutes without stopping, for instance; right now, I do 25 minutes, break for 7, then do another 25. And by the way, if anyone thinks this is easy, I suggest getting on a rowing machine. I've been doing it for over a year and a half and when I first started, I couldn't do more than 10 minutes. Now, I'll do nearly 15 without even breaking a sweat. I also want to up the weight amount I use one more time; currently, it's 1 65 lb. and 2 55 lb. weights for my workouts, but I'd like to be able to use 3 65s for all routines. I also plan to read War and Peace before 2010 is out, but I love reading too much and I have other classics I want to read first...
As for the girlfriend thing...eh. I have no comment at this time. Lastly, if anybody here doesn't recognize the pic here, I don't even know you. ;)

Regarding your open-mindedness of other genres unfortunately I think gaming developers are forcing me to think the same way. JRPGs are my bread and butter when it comes to console gaming and this generation has really screwed me. Thankfully I've at least given Western RPGs my time and walked away entertained for the most part.
You want to row more; I want to do more pushups at once. Used to do 300 now I'm lucky to do 100. I blame gaming completely but hopefully I can get some exercise in during the movie, I mean game FF13.

Like Scarecrow said it's a beauty on the PSP.
Also I like to throw my money at games that have earned it and FF8 has definitely given me more entertainment than the original 50 dollars so another 10 doesn’t seem too unfair.
Start writing articles so I can read them, I promise to give you my 2cents as always.

Really? I never knew there was a section dedicated to that in the forums, I've really never taken the time to go there actually? Where would i go, it seems very interesting, I'm always up for expressing myself in the community. I'm also interested in reading your entry, you seem like a very good writer!

Also, Dead Rising 2 (if you meant that and not Dead Space 2) isn't survival horror. It's an action game.
My resolution: backlog, backlog, backlog.

Yeah the PhD is killing me but being a dedicated gamer myself, I'd squeeze in a few hours of gaming before I sleep. Even if I finish my daily activities at 9-10 pm. Gosh, imaging doing all these if one is involved in a relationship....
Oh, and being from Adelaide, Australia, I am praying that major game releases doesn't get delayed or ridiculously censored from this year. I mean, we PAL region ppl are still waiting for PS3 GOW: collection, can you imagine how painful is that?

My main resolution for the year is to work on my health. I definitely drink and smoke too much, don't eat healthy enough, don't sleep well, and don't work out enough. That said, my career is looking bright...You win some, you lose some.
As for gaming...my resolution for this year is to complete the games I buy. I have Dragon Age: Origins (360) and Ratchet and Clank Future: A Crack in Time sitting on my shelf untouched. I'm in the middle of playthroughs of Assassins Creed 2, Batman: Arkham Asylum, and inFamous. I am promising myself to trophy hunt the God of War Collection (already beat both games on PS2) before God of War 3 comes out.
And maybe...just maybe...if the software lineups are a little more even (2009 was a PS3 landslide)...I'd like to even out the amount of time I spend with both of my consoles.

Nice work man ;) Mad respect from me
My step-brother sent me an awesome Harvard t-shirt because he's doing Anthropology there.
WOULD I BE ABLE TO PAY YOU SO YOU CAN SEND ME ONE OF THE LICENSED CORNELL JUMPERS OR SHIRTS?
Haha, nah kidding but I think I want to start collect licensed clothing with all the Ivy League names.
Even though I live in New Zealand... :)

Let me know how it goes.
My resolution:
-to be able to calmly bench 15kg+ more than my own weight, by the year's halfway point (6 months-ish I guess).
***right now I only weigh 60kg and I can only bench my own weight with proper reps. So I'm ready to go Super Saiyan Ascended!

Also, I'm fairly new to passionate gaming, and have missed out on some great titles. I bought MGS4 as a part of my resolution to catch up with some of the classics. (R&C games are next on my list)
I also resolve to be more patient with online multiplayer aspect of the games I buy. I'm sure it is fantastic, but I've not had the patience to bear it for longer than an hour at a stretch, thanks to all the dopes that grace the online gaming world :). So I've gotta learn to see through all of that, and an even better bang for my buck after I'm done with the single player campaign!

Of course I would like to improve my fitness but I have the disability Cerebral Palsy which affects my legs. It isn't a severe case but it does make things harder (the only way you can tell is because I have a strange walk), I play sport (baseball) and I manage to maintain my fitness but I could be doing more. Although I can thank my disability for my gaming, I had a big operation when I was about 6 or 7 and that gave me about 10 - 12 weeks off. My PS1 got a thrashing, I played Driver, Time Crisis, Point Blank, Shane Warne Cricket '99 (I'm an Aussie) and so much more, it was awesome and I guess it "fueled the fire" so to speak.
Anyway my gaming resolution is to broaden (sp?) my gaming collection. I need a racing game (GT5) and Heavy Rain should cover it aswell as RDR Mafia II etc. It should be a good year for gaming and the PS3.
