Uncharted 3 Will Be The Best Game Ever Made
Okay, bear with me on this:
Uncharted 2: Among Thieves is arguably the greatest game of the generation and certainly the best game of 2009. GameSpot tried to be different by giving it to Demon's Souls, but Naughty Dog's unbelievable sequel was so amazing, it was essentially the default choice for most sources. And has anyone noticed the reaction that game gets if it's placed before an out-of-touch individual who doesn't really know anything about modern interactive entertainment? Only Heavy Rain could prompt that level of awe and complete and utter confusion. Why? Uncharted 2 is the closest I, or any of us, have come to actually playing an action movie.
But there's something else at play, here. The original Uncharted was great, too, if you may recall. And yet, the developers found a way to keep absolutely every facet of the first title that made it awesome, and only set about to add more greatness. In my opinion, the end of Drake's Fortune sort of felt tacky and didn't really seem to gel with the adventure. The finale of Uncharted 2? Simple and almost perfect. The acting and storytelling got a little better, the gameplay somehow managed to get a bit tighter, there was more variety overall, and I don't think there was even one moment of boredom, frustration, or disappointment. Now, all this being said, what if the designers take this same approach into Uncharted 3...? Now, maybe lightning never strikes twice and the team just isn't capable of doing this so perfectly again, but to not have faith in Naughty Dog at this point is borderline sacriligious.
I mean, wouldn't the result quite simply be the greatest video game of all time? Yes, yes, we can argue about personal preferences all day long, but I've never bought into the idea that if I dislike something, that personal opinion somehow affects the inherent quality of the product. As I always say, you can like the McDonalds hamburger more than the filet mignon; that doesn't mean the McDonalds burger is a superior piece of beef. Of course, it's a sliding scale and the closer two things come to each other in terms of quality, the more opinion plays a role (i.e., are you more impressed by a Mozart work or the Sistine Chapel?). But overall, stepping back and viewing the whole situation, and doing our best to compare what Uncharted 3 should be in relation to all other games we've ever seen, the answer may be clear.
Ah, but you see, Final Fantasy Tactics will always remain my favorite game of all time. It's why a "Favorites" list and a "Best" list will always be a little different.

Also, I really hope that they can craft the fourth game in full 1080p HD, just to be different. Yeah, I meant fourth, they need a way to improve it upon the best game ever, and if all they can do is graphics, then go ahead.
Peace.

But both are great games, and to me Uncharted 2 is the best game I've ever played, and it is my favorite. It did everything right, EVERYTHING!

Uncharted 3 may just be that infliction point that makes Hollywood realise their future is really in doubt... and what a great day that will be... to play a movie rather than watch the damn thing...

First of all, its a little premature to say that it will be the best game ever made since Naughty Dog has not officially unveil the game. Again, not to say ND won't produce another spectacular game.
Next, lots of games or even other things in the world tend to fail in the eyes of consumers even though the product was good simply because of the insanely high expectations and pressure from the gaming industry.
I can't imagine the pressure ND is facing now to outdo themselves of what they did with UC2. All I am saying is we shouldn't build up the hype train so soon and we shouldn't pile too much pressure on ND. Or else everyone will be left disappointed and hence starts the flaming and ranting.

But either way I've replayed both through completion about 7 times, still just as fun the next time through as the first. and I'm even playing UC2 again through right now. Add the MP and its got plenty of replay value.

i really hope they inject a proper believable less Hollywood story in U3.
uncharted 2 had so many plot holes it looked like swiss cheese!
not only that but it was so far fetched typical rambo action storys.
we need a proper deep realistic story something believable like AC not a Hollywood blockbuster!
they could of gone so far with the stories i mean they have covered 2 of the worlds most famous people, and 2 of the worlds most famous cities!
El Dorado and shamballa are mysteries to man, they really could of delved in and given us there vision there story of how the places came to be and there history and such.
but instead they were just background, a reason for travel.
uncharted 2 and KZ2 are 2 of the worst stories ever put into a video game!
i really hope ND and GG put a propper story into their next games, because as ninja theroy said storyline is more important than anything in your game!
i would not go as far as too say that, gameplay is more important than storyline but a great storyline will have you coming back time and time again, great gameplay wont!
a great storyline is what grips the player, makes him want to play more of the game, its what immerses them into the game!
if im not at TAFE thinking hmmmmmm i wonder what happenes next after the level i played last night than the games story has failed!
i remember finishing infamous and i was thinking about it and talking about it for weeks!
trying to put all the pieces together, to have a perfect understanding of what happened, who all the characters were and what they had to do with the story.
same with AC2, ive been wondering WTF that women was talking about at the end of the game since late november when i finished it!
thats what makes alan wake so f*cking brilliant!
the gameplay is crap, but the story is so intriguing, well thought out, and well interesting! it keeps you back wanting more!
it constantly leaves you asking questions, guessing why this happened, what it meant, what could happen next thats what keeps people interested because it really answers nothing it leaves your imagination to run wild!
thats what a good story needs to do, it needs to leave things open for contemplation!

seriously do you think before you type? if the GAMEPLAY is crap why the hell would the average person want to keep playing the GAME? You try telling the average gamer to get a game thats crap to play ( in your words mind you ) but the story is decent and more than likely, they'll laugh at you and keep playing something they find fun to play.
perhaps this would explain the somewhat lackluster sells Alan Wake has seen. We get it though, you like Alan Wake, no need to keep name dropping it as if you're getting paid for it. Having played it, its decent at best but if you don't have a 360 to play it you're not missing out on too much.
If you really think gamers play their favorite games over and over again due to a great story and not because of its gameplay along with a story, you're more delusional than i once thought.
As far as 2 of the worse stories ever put into a video game.... its sad that you actually believe this bullshit.
About these plot holes you mentioned, please, point some out. If it has glaring plot holes, please state them. How else would people believe what you're saying instead of just ignoring you like some do if you provide no proof? Reminds me of the time you said GG stated killzone 2 would have completely destructible environments when in reality they never said such a thing, but you swore up and down they did. When asked for proof "well....umm... im not looking for it but they said it!!!"
You do this crap all the time, mention a fault about a game but NEVER go into detail about it. And often when you do state a reason for not liking a game, its something dumb like " Media Molecule made Little Big Planet too damn hard so i sold it back".....really?

Secondly I was amused at how you critizied UC2 and KZ2 for leaving some unexplained parts of the story, especaily KZ since the story arc isn't over yet. Then later you go on to say that the plotholes in Alan Wake is what makes the game so great.
Any ways, rant over... for now.

I and many others here played multiple better games in 09.
Gamespot wasn't just trying to be different. I don't necessarily enjoy them, but they knew what they were doing and the odds should of been for Demons Souls everywhere.
Demons Souls slaughtered it in almost all aspects bar graphics, mechanics and things in that area.
But, Demons Souls was way more Innovative, fresh and old, actually makes you think, none mind numbing and will forever be etched in my mind thanks to its unique atmosphere, haunting, symbolic arthouse story and dark tone.
U2 was ok. Quite mind numbing....run and gunning, infinite checkpoints 2 seconds before you die, action, action, action, action, action, MEGA CHEESY script.....just not entirely me.

For a rpg, it has NO story worth telling. Most who love demon souls can't argue against that. Thats pretty important for an rpg. Sure it may not be heavily story driven but i hope if they make a part 2 they at least try. All of that great atmosphere, like the prison stage is almost wasted with little to no story
For all the talk the game gets about its difficulty, some of the bosses on the game are pretty damn lackluster and too easy. No way in hell should that dragon god battle gone down like it did. Instead of being some epic battle that it should have been, it was a simple case of trial and error, so disappointed in that fight.
There's not a lot of desirable gear to be had on the game also

Ben, try contributing rather than assuming and throwing thoughts on people you know nothing about. For that reason, i'm not going to sit here and list simplistic or none innovative games i consider phenomenal or guiding you to posts which would counter your poor judgement. But it is nice to know you enjoy creating a more hostile environment for a member of your "great community" rather than offer up a normal, none personal contribution.
Lastly, it's just games....and people expressing opinions on them. Don't get too emotionally inclined people.

I know I'm not the first or the last to say it but what Ben said is mostly accurate in regards to you. But that is still your opinion. Just like it is mine to say that UC2 had little flaws, while Demon's souls was great, had many! And that there is my opinion.
Demons Souls may be artistic or whatever to you, but UC2 is to me. It takes a great deal of development to make a game like UC2. That's why we haven't seen to many games come close to its level of overall quality. That is what I respect most about the game is ND did something not a lot of developers are able to do. They created something with so little flaws that people are still talking about it even with games like Demons souls, and Heavy Rain, and GOW3 being released!

I read posts. Don't think I haven't read yours...if I can predict what you're going to say about just about every game and topic, you're transparently obvious. The bias is obvious. That much is fact.
But don't get all pissy when someone notices. Just own up to it and defend it (if you must). I find it REALLY ironic that you tell people not to get emotional, and that's all your reply to me WAS. Cut the sh** and don't get personal. I'm not in the mood.

Again, you know nothing about me from forum posts, that much is fact.....and i could say i can predict yours....it's just one opinion against the other as Bigrailer said, ain't it.
I don't care how i am perceived, but that perception could not be more wrong. I view everything with objectivity, even blatant money creations because you just never know. I mostly post on the topic of art because guess what, it's the dying ingredient today and goes mostly unnoticed by today's society. I speak up and try to bring more awareness to it.
My opinion is there whether you enjoy it or not. I thought forums were like that.
Yes that reply was emotional to YOU, got it. Ironic indeed.
Yeah, let's stop.

You don't want people to respect your opinion. You want people to AGREE with your opinion. You don't want to state; you want to lecture. Your entire first post here is written as if what you believe is fact: "I and many others here played multiple better games in 09." That's a factual statement. The rest of your analysis of the game is piss-poor, inaccurate and based entirely on your own biased opinion. My article was clearly tongue-in-cheek (someone who loves art so much should've been able to see that), and in no way am I saying anything as fact. It's a fun "what-if" scenario that you had to turn into a drama by claiming Demon's Souls is so clearly superior.
Bottom line? You freaked out because I pinned you down and you hated that someone saw right through you. You're egotistical and now you feel the need to insult me and the community when they call you on being obviously transparent. I suggest you heed this warning. If you post again, I expect to see an apology; if not, don't post.

Just imagine an Alantis based storyline with sweet underwater visuals and swimming mechanics... Or flying from mountain to mountain in AC2 style...
Or something completely different which we haven't imagined yet... :D
Anyways, besides speculating i expect nothing less than mindblowing... :P

Secondly, the story was good. It made sense. Story-wise, the resin had some neurological effect that made those who ate it completely vicious and gave them incredible strength. Like taking super-steroids or something, and getting super roidrage. It doesn't have to be detailed and chemically correct down to the molecular formula of the resin, but it sufficed o the point where the story wasn't inconsistent on nonsensical.

After beating those I rented MGS4 and finally got to see what everyone had been raving about for a year.
But out of the first few months of having a PS3, the play-through I remember the most is the first one I did of Drake's Fortune. I had heard decent things about it but nothing too spectacular (compared to KZ2, MGS4 and other exclusives anyway) but I saw it on the shelf one night so I decided to rent it.
I was blown away. The graphics were, in my opinion, easily up there with anything else out there and ND did a perfect job of blending the shooting with the puzzle elements and supplying perfect voice actors and and great story.
Then, after watching the mind-blowing 2009 E3 gameplay demo of U2 almost every night on YouTube in anticipation of the game's release, I didn't think it was possible for it to live up to the hype. I was so wrong.
It's been said a million times by now but it's true. They took the best elements of the first game and enhanced them to create literally a playable blockbuster action movie.
I never really played the Crash or Jak series that much, so I didn't know much about Naughty Dog before, but it only took them two games to become one of my favorite developers working today.
