Dear Remedy: PS3 Owners Want Alan Wake 2
Okay, so you've explained why Alan Wake was exclusive to the Xbox 360, and we accept that explanation. Microsoft came to you with the best deal and besides, it's always easier to focus on any one console.
However, if you do create Alan Wake 2 and if for some strange reason your exclusivity deal with MS went bye-bye, I'm telling you that such a project would go over quite well with the PlayStation 3 audience. Although Heavy Rain is a different experience in terms of gameplay, both your game and Quantic Dream's emphasized a strong story narrative and character development. As far as I can tell, the same sort of people who enjoyed one game would enjoy the other. But here's the difference: while Heavy Rain was expected to only sell a few hundred thousand copies and ended up selling over 1.5 million, your game... The numbers weren't exactly encouraging, now were they?
Well, it wasn't a huge flop but let's face up to facts: Alan Wake didn't sell anywhere near as well as it should've. But with all this great word-of-mouth generated by critics and die-hard fans of your stellar achievement, there's every indication that a sequel would sell better, and I can almost guarantee the PS3 fans would take notice. Maybe it's because the average age of a PS3 owner is a little higher. Or maybe it's because the innovative risks Sony has taken in the past three decades have been received well by gamers. Whatever the reason, it seems apparent that Alan Wake 2 would be welcomed by the PS3 crowd.
Of course, if the game remains exclusive to the 360, I will certainly still buy it on day one. And I'm hoping others will reward your efforts as well. But as you said, it was a "business risk" to cut out all the possible consumers...maybe it's best to eliminate that risk and give nearly twice as many gamers a chance to play your new in-depth adventure. Just a thought.

I, for one, can't play Alan Wake because it creeps me out.

So World, it would seem I skimmed somewhere that you are doing reviews, or something, at that Titan Reviews site? If so, cool =)

I would just give it to you through PSN (username is the same as my PSXe name) but right now all of my home is packed up as I'm moving tomorrow. Hopefully, I can get my internet up and running over there as soon as possible. So I'll probably be out of the loop for a few days or more until I get an ISP at that location.
Thanks, World

Temjin, the Shahazarade (sp?) part near the end is the CUT-OFF POINT. If you do that battle and you don't have everyone you can possibly get to that point, you're screwed. Fair warning.

I loved Heavy Rain, but from all the alan wake vids I watched, I definitely would not compare the two. I just don't see it.
I know Ben liked it, so what was it?

And yeah, I really liked the TV/episodic thing; after every chapter, it recapped what happened in a "last time, on Alan Wake" theme.
The gameplay could get a little repetitive, certainly, but it was the dark, freaky atmosphere and story that matters most.

If the campaign is 10 hours, does it have multiple ending or routes to the end? You know short games are one of my pet peeves.
It's just all the vids for this game show him running with a flash light, is there any actual combat? I'm just wondering what the actual gameplay is like.
Horror isn't really my thing so if it's just supposed to be scary then you're right I probably wouldn't like it. If someone ever said here play this though I'd give it a chance.

i have often debated on getting a 360 becuase of games like lo, and alan wake. i just can't get myself to do it becuase of my absolute hatred of ms, and its practices. i don't want to contribute any to their already huge lead na,
sony really dropped the ball this gen, and now has a dangerous opponet in ms. there were so many happy ps2 owners ready for a next gen system. sony came along with that ridiculous asking price and with games that did not look as good as 360's. so guess what? a lot of people jumped ship, and did not look back. somehow ms survived the rrod fiasco to be the console of choice for hardcore gamers in na. i blame that on sony. it's been hard to watch my console of choice come in last place all this gen.

Secondly, it's not a year-old port. I'm not asking for the original; I'm talking about a regular simultaneous multiplatform release of a sequel.

As for AW2, I'm just saying it's going to sit on store shelves the same way those "year late to the party" 360 ports did. You know, Bioshock 2 and Mass Effect 2. Good games sure, but too late to matter.

However, if they do release it for the PS3 then that would be great for the PS3 users who did not get to play the first one!

Anyone played the socom 4 beta? It's really good, alot better than mag was (same developer).
It's all about tactics and it has a really big learning curve but, after awhile you begin to unlock the depth of the tactical elements. Teamplay is big, and it emphisises alot on headsets. Staying within shouting distance of your teamates (the game includes a cool feature where you can only hearing your teammates on headset if your near them) is vital if you wanna survive more than a minuite. Judging from this beta I'd say Ben would give this game a good 8.0+ score and if your into tactical online shooters and you weren't satisfied with MAG, you'll feel right at home here.

MAG has a bit of a learning curve, so you have to get your character to level 15 or so, before it starts getting really awesome.
As for Socom, just about everyone had headsets on games I played. Its just not everyone talks, that's all.
I find the over-the-shoulder view takes a bit of getting used to. Right now, if I play for too long, I get nausea!

Anyway, I think a re-imagining of the first one would work for PS3 if it came out so as to get the fans on the train. I think Microsoft got the rights for the first game but how about a version that has slight changes so that it can be released for other consoles.

Anyone else know about it? Was it canned?? ...I know I'd take a PS3 exclusive built around the Move over a multiplat any day.

Although I still think it is safe to say that Alan Wake probably would have done better in terms of sales if it had been on the PS3.

It really needs to come over, I still really want to play it. I'm really love Twin Peaks, and a game even with a shade of that I want to play.
