Ben's Week In Review: May 1

We're closing in...tentatively, our big announcement comes in mid-to-late May...

Altair deserves another adventure

Ezio is a confirmed bad-ass and one of my favorite characters of the generation. Altair, the hero from the first Assassin's Creed title, doesn't register on my "favorite" list but that's because he was, for all intents and purposes, faceless. At the same time, I think he was a fantastic protagonist that had a lot of potential, and another story in what may be called Assassin's Creed: Revelations is welcome in my eyes. Of course, I want a new setting but I'm sure Ubisoft will deliver just that. Oh, and as for what they're planning with the next series entry, I have a very simple yet forceful warning for the developers: you managed to create a franchise that both critics and gamers love. It sold tons of copies because they love the games.

Changing the core gameplay and structure would be disastrous. I know it's the "in" thing to do this generation but almost every time it has happened, the results have been less than impressive. In some cases, it was downright depressing. Do not mess with this particular winning formula. Make some additions and enhancements, give us a new story and environment, etc. Just don't change the foundation. Got it?

Lest we forget, Warhawk was pretty damn good

I was involved in the beta testing for Warhawk way back in the summer of 2007 and in all honesty, I wasn't looking forward to it. I really can't get into flying games and my expectations weren't high. But the instant I pressed Triangle and enabled the flight mode, I was hooked. I don't typically play online multiplayer games but I had a ton of fun with Incognito's extremely well designed and accessible title, which is why I'm intrigued by Lightbox Interactive's new project. Evidently, it's Starhawk, and the first details are awfully encouraging. I think the problem is that so few people even had a PlayStation 3 when Warhawk came out, many never played it. Hence, they're not all that excited about what should be the spiritual successor.

Well, if you're one of many who never played that great multiplayer title years ago, I'm telling you right now- pay attention to Starhawk.

Personal gaming update

I'm closing in on the end of Dragon Age II and I continue to work on Final Fantasy IV: Complete Collection. It's great because there's so much I don't remember about that game (even though I replayed it when it came with Final Fantasy Chronicles on the PlayStation), so a lot of it just feels like a new old-school RPG. I've moved past the other games on my list and I now anxiously await L.A. Noire, which should be here in a few weeks time. I have a few PSN games I have to review, but...uh...those are on the back burner, obviously. On that note, however, I'm really looking forward to Trine 2 and Journey, among others.

Oh, and look for a Brink review this week. I have absolutely no expectations one way or the other; on the one hand, it looks like it has a ton of potential, but on the other, I have my reservations. We'll see.

i'm torn between brink and la noire. i got a $15 gaming coupon that expires before infamous 2 so i want to use it. then both games come with $20 gaming coupon that i can use with infamous 2, so thats good. i want to pick up brink but its just another shooter and i've been playing alot of those lately. then theres la noire. looking at gameplay videos, it looks like another one of their gta games but different settings. i'm impressed with what they did but i never got interested in gta games.

L.A. Noire looks like something much different from GTA, although the action/shooting is probably similar I'm most interested in the case solving and interrogation.

I haven't even played my PS3 much since PSN went down. I was working on Portal 2 and FFXIII again but I took a break to try and finish up Dissidia 2 Duodecim which I'm still not 100% done with as there is yet another mode that unlocks after beating the original game that unlocked after beating the new story mode. That game is packed with so much content it's kind of unbelievable. So I suspect I'll be playing that one for a while longer. Also took a break from FFXIII and Portal 2 to start FFIV: Complete Collection. Such a great game. Ah...I miss the days when Square actually made RPG's with a world map and airships. Other than that I have just been playing my guitar. Getting ready for my Europe tour. Woohoo!

What? A week in review without an update on the status of the impending doom of the terrible scroll bar?

PSN will be back up within the week since ND says next weekend will be The Lab's triple cash weekend.

I've been playing bad games looking for the rare one I enjoy. Sadly Two Worlds II was just too f*cked up for me to enjoy. It had promise though. Other than that I'm biding my time until L.A. Noire comes. I'd like to finish Ar Tonelico by then but it's slow going with all the studying and stress.

@ Ben, I dunno if it's doable but I came up with a compromise in my poll. See if your web designer can find a way to make it so in the User CP we can turn it on or off permanently. It's just that having to toggle it all the time is a pain. But it's your guys' site in any case.

Sooo... PSXE expansion announcement coming soon. I just want to know what it is. Oh and I've come across a problem with my PSP, I'll elaborate in the PU, if anyone wants to see if they can help to solve the issue.

There were some parts that I enjoyed about the first Assassin's Creed, such as the parkour, the graphics and the way that the Templar deaths were handled, but the game just began to grate on me before too long. I thought Altair had more to tell, and I am cautiously excited for Revelations, if that is indeed what the new AC title is. I still can't figure out a plausible explanation for sending Desmond back to Altair though, so... whatever. On a related note, this past week I ordered the complete edition of AC2, so that should arrive sometime soon, though I don't know when I'll get to it.

Never played Warhawk, though a friend swore by it. As you all know by now, I'm strictly offline, so if Starhawk has a good SP, I'll be interested. If not, a definite pass.

Personal Update:
Not sure if I let you know, but I finished up on Inferno, and am now about halfway through Purgatory. They're rather enjoyable to read, if difficult at times.
I'm determined to finish Sly 2 this weekend, which means that I really should get back to it. Though I've already done about three hours already this morning. It's bloody long compared to most modern releases. After I'm finished it, I'll take a short break to play my borrowed copy of Black Ops (Yeah, I've succumbed to the urge to see what the fuss is and will definitely post a review of the OFFLINE segment. Don't get up me when it goes live for not touching on the MP.) before going back and finishing up Sly 3 so that I can finalise my review of the Trilogy. Don't know what I'll go onto after I'm finished them... Maybe Dante's Inferno, so that the poem is relatively fresh in my mind.
Aside from AC2, this past week, I also picked up Bad Company 1&2, to see if I like the series before Battlefield 3 comes out, PoP: The Forgotten Sands, to round of the collection alongside the Trilogy (haven't decided on getting PoP '08 yet) and Siren: Blood Curse, all for the agreeable price of $114. But yeah, no more purchases until L.A. Noire and WKC2, regardless of how Brink turns out. I've got a big enough backlog as is.
Now, onto my PSP. I don't know what happened. I was playing VC2, up to November and doing Heinz's classmate mission, when all of the buttons except the ones along the bottom of the device stopped working. The peculiar thing is, in any of my other PSP games, or in the XMB, everything works fine. Now, when I put in VC2, I can't even access the title screen as I can't go past the opening 'This game saves data automatically' screen. It's frustrating. I'm inclined to think that it's a software fault on the UMD rather than anything wrong with the PSP itself. Does anyone else have any potential explanation, or suggestions as to what to do, because I want to finish that game. 70 hours+, and then this... I felt like crying.
Peace.

P.S. This comments scroll bar is a terrible idea. I know I'm not the first to say it, and I doubt I'll be the last, but what prompted you to include it?

Love the Divine Comedy; which translation are you reading?

If you play the game, don't expect it to be at all faithful. Personally, I couldn't play it because I'm too annoyed by the liberties taken (huge understatement), but World dug it.

I know how much was changed, and I'm already anticipating bringing that up once I start playing. As for the translation: For Inferno, it was Robin Kirkpatrick's and for Purgatory and Paradise, it is Dorothy L. Sayers'. I wanted to get a uniform collection, but the first time I checked they only had Hell, and the second time, only the other two. Not much to be done about it though. Still get the story, even if the translated style is hugely different.

I felt that the Dante's Inferno game was quite faithful in philosophical spirit, but you really have to be a literature nut like me and pay attention to every detail of what is happening in the inferno, know the permutations of the imagery, and have seen all of the work that Visceral put into sticking to specific themes and quotes.

It isn't as much of a stretch for me as the battles in the game, to me at least, mirror the battles in Alighieri's soul as he easily rages at the sinners who have done things he sees as overly reprehensible and pities those who have committed the same sins as he.

And in both cases of the inferno, Beatrice is just a means to an end. Neither the game or the poem is really about going after her, she simply draws him in.

I'm signed up for a new AC starring Altair.

Aside from that, I'm real tired of the PSN stuff eating up all of the headlines. I just want this storm to pass and have gaming news flow like normal again, oh, and to have PSN back up again, too.

PGU: Okay, so I haven't been able to get my Tekken fix because of the PSN crisis. This has actually been good, as my attention has moved towards VF5:O in the meantime. In the past, I'd play VF5 online and usually get my butt trashed pretty hard, and then I'd quickly run over to Tekken and lay the smack down hard to raise my spirits back up. Hehe, well, I can't resort to that now. I just stay dedicated to VF5 and there's nothing to tempt me away. I'm beginning to get the pacing and intricacies of play more familiar and now I'm putting up more of a competitive fight. Which is good because most of the guys who are playing online feel very experienced with it. Anyway, I really hope VF5 Final Showdown sees a console side release.
Aside from that, I've been doing AC:Bro.hood. I'm taking my time having fun with the assassin recruiting and leveling. It's a neat addition. I hope in future iterations they make that element much more deep. It seems pretty surface level deep at this point, but they could go nuts with the concept if they'd like. I'd be game.

I bet my son 20 games of his choice from my collection that I could beat him in 15 straight matches in Tekken 6. The wily old lion came out on top. I've been playing ALOT of Housemarque's Outland over on XBLA. It's amazing and fantastic. The very best title they have done, in my opinion. When PSN is back up, try it out. And over on the Wii, Abraham Lincon and George Washington in high tech armor and packing serious weaponry were part of the best video game ending I've experienced this gen.

So what are XBLA's and PSNs strongest exclusives?
Shooting from the hip I know XBLA has these titles:
Hydro Thunder
Shadow Complex
Ultimate MK3
Virtual On: OT
Soul Calibur
Outrun (exclusive in U.S.)
Trials HD
Torchlight
Zeit 2
Arcade versions of Contra and Super C

PSN:
Joe danger
Super Stardust HD
WipEout HD
Tekken 5 DR
Flower
Flow
Shatter

I feel like I'm missing a bunch. Any other quality exclusive network titles for the comparison?

I thhink another Altair adventure would be great but not yet. I want a new hero and setting. Then come back to Altair. Let's. Not forget that he has also had 2 adventures with Bloodlines on the psp.

PGU: I got my ps3 back on Tuesday and I finished Crysis 2. Its a pretty great game. I've now started Borderlands and POP: The Forgotten Sands. Really enjoying Borderlands but idk how much I am enjoying POP.

My PGU. I gave up on going through Dragon Age: Origins on easy. I just can't live with myself and there was no strategy in it anymore. So I started a new run through as an elf mage. I'm not sure why, but on this playthrough it's so much more easy to deal with the normal setting. I have once or twice checked to make sure it's still on the normal setting. A little bit of experience can go a long way I guess.

Nice to see things go better for you. DA:O is an excellent game. I played as a rogue and encountered some trouble along the way but not as much as you seem to in your first playthrough.
I then started as a mage but did not get very far before some other game stole the attention.

My PGU,

it's now 45 days since I was last able to play on my now-smashed PS3, so I decided to relegate myself to knocking down at least some of my backlog of BotBox games.

I played thru Sniper: Ghost Warrior.....twice.

Then started on The Outfit, but for some strange reason, the game threw me off the chapter I was currently in & then reset my save to 3 chapters prior, so I'd need to play them all over again just to get where I was at......I quit that game PISSED!

Then I played a few chapters of Splinter Cell: Conviction but after the parking garage scene, I got totally bored.

Then "Wanted:Weapons of Fate....bored!

Some Section 8......bored!

A bit of Velvet Assassin.... bored

Shellshock 2....bored

Halo 3....YAWN

Crackdown....bored

WarTech....hated it.

Too Human.... finally a game I'm enjoying! And already 8 hours straight through so far, and even though it seems like a hack & slash with some RPG elements(a skill/weapon/armor tree), and some areas where there an onslaught of numerous mixed enemies along with 2 big bosses to deal at the same time has been extremely hard, but I've been pressing on & I managed to reach level 12.
I especially like how the angels will come down to retrieve you & your team's bodes when you die & swoop you away............and you die a lot!

Plus I'm really digging this strange atmosphere similar to the Dues Ex's futuristic technology vibe during parts of it.

But.....I'm truly missing my one true love

"R.I.P. phat princess"

Its times like this (when psn took a crap and whatnot) that i really love collecting games. I've gone back to a few heavy hitting titles that i havent even touched in months. I beat UC2 for like the 5th time this week. Went back to play mgs4 got to a pretty long mission and forgot to save (damn no autosave) and now i've kind of lost interest but then I played infamous again and rerealized how awesome that game actually is. But now I have a dilema. I have a few games on my radar and 75$ in Gamestop money. Infamous 2 is looking like a mighty fine title but im also waiting on R3. By the time BF3 Uc3 and twisted metal come out i'll have $, but for now its R3 v Inf3 and i am just at a loss here.

I still haven't played my copy of Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood. I keep saying I'll play it soon but something else sucks me in. Maybe it'll be my next platinum challenge.

I played a little of Warhawk when I first got my PS3 3 years ago but just never gave it a chance. I'm actually sporting the Warhawk dynamic theme right now. I was planning on picking it up again. People still are playing it right?

I can't wait for LA Noire. I've got it preordered and will have it D1. Brink I'm kind of interested about but just not sure if it'll be any good. I'll just wait for your review to find out. I also just ordered ME2 off of EA.com for $38. I played it on the 360 but I don't have a 360 anymore so I need to get a game save going for ME3.

My gaming now and from the last week has been great. I earned the platinum trophy for Uncharted 1 and Enslaved this last week. I am now working on Borderlands. This has been sitting on my shelf for quit a while. The last 2 days playing it has just sucked me in. I hope to have this platinum'd within a week or two.

I would Platinum ACB but there is 1 little tiny problem, you've got to reach level 50 in multiplayer for a trophy. It takes longer than the story itself to reach level 50. Sorry to ruin it for you.

I ABSODUTOLUTELY hate the multiplayer in that game. It just isn't my cup of tea.

starhawk sound good. at first i hated warhawk, kept getting shot down right when i take off with a plane. i couldnt dodge any enemy fire either. i was so pissed but i only bought it for the mic anyway. after they included that tutorial thing, i loved the game. they shouldve had that from the start because theres a big learning curve with the planes.

The only thing i want them to change is the level up system. it was a pain to level up in the game, at least later in the game. i had to get enough xp plus get medals which frankly were pretty hard to get. i dont remember what level i stopped but thats the biggest reason i stopped playing.

PGU: with psn down i ended up beating crysis 2 on supersoldier, was so damn easy, and i'm 4 missions away from beating socom 4 on elite. it kinda pisses me off that weapon upgrades in campaign dont carry over to multiplayer. i got most of my guns maxed. i dont think it'll be any difference what guns people use in the game, leveled up or not. it just depends on how they play. from what i can see, theres not much advantages to upgrading your weapon. all i need is the sights, the rest is carrying more bullets, silencers, and grenade launchers/masterkey. i spent all that time leveling them up but all i can use it on is coop and campaign. well i should finish the last 4 missions then after that all i need is the coop/online trophies to get platinum.

i guess next up i'll either start littlebigplanet 2 or go to gamestop and borrow portal 2. i like games that make me think but i wasnt sold on portal 1 when i played it. I'm always up for giving games a second chance.

Tokyo, May 1, 2011 – Sony Computer Entertainment (SCE) and Sony Network Entertainment International (SNEI, the company) announced they will shortly begin a phased restoration by region of PlayStation®Network and Qriocity™ services, beginning with gaming, music and video services to be turned on. The company also announced both a series of immediate steps to enhance security across the network and a new customer appreciation program to thank its customers for their patience and loyalty.

Following a criminal cyber-attack on the company’s data-center located in San Diego, California, U.S.A., SNEI quickly turned off the PlayStation Network and Qriocity services, engaged multiple expert information security firms over the course of several days and conducted an extensive audit of the system. Since then, the company has implemented a variety of new security measures to provide greater protection of personal information. SNEI and its third-party experts have conducted extensive tests to verify the security strength of the PlayStation Network and Qriocity services. With these measures in place, SCE and SNEI plan to start a phased rollout by region of the services shortly. The initial phase of the rollout will include, but is not limited to, the following:

Restoration of Online game-play across the PlayStation®3 (PS3) and PSP® (PlayStation®Portable) systems
-This includes titles requiring online verification and downloaded games
Access to Music Unlimited powered by Qriocity for PS3/PSP for existing subscribers
Access to account management and password reset
Access to download un-expired Movie Rentals on PS3, PSP and MediaGo
PlayStation®Home

Working closely with several outside security firms, the company has implemented significant security measures to further detect unauthorized activity and provide consumers with greater protection of their personal information. The company is also creating the position of Chief Information Security Officer, directly reporting to Shinji Hasejima, Chief Information Officer of Sony Corporation, to add a new position of expertise in and accountability for customer data protection and supplement existing information security personnel. The new security measures implemented include, but are not limited to, the following:

Added automated software monitoring and configuration management to help defend against new attacks
Enhanced levels of data protection and encryption
Enhanced ability to detect software intrusions within the network, unauthorized access and unusual activity patterns
Implementation of additional firewalls

The company also expedited an already planned move of the system to a new data center in a different location that has been under construction and development for several months. In addition, PS3 will have a forced system software update that will require all registered PlayStation Network users to change their account passwords before being able to sign into the service. As an added layer of security, that password can only be changed on the same PS3 in which that account was activated, or through validated email confirmation, a critical step to help further protect customer data.

The company is conducting a thorough and on-going investigation and working with law enforcement to track down and prosecute those responsible for the illegal intrusion.

“This criminal act against our network had a significant impact not only on our consumers, but our entire industry. These illegal attacks obviously highlight the widespread problem with cyber-security. We take the security of our consumers’ information very seriously and are committed to helping our consumers protect their personal data. In addition, the organization has worked around the clock to bring these services back online, and are doing so only after we had verified increased levels of security across our networks,” said Kazuo Hirai, Executive Deputy President, Sony Corporation. “Our global audience of PlayStation Network and Qriocity consumers was disrupted. We have learned lessons along the way about the valued relationship with our consumers, and to that end, we will be launching a customer appreciation program for registered consumers as a way of expressing our gratitude for their loyalty during this network downtime, as we work even harder to restore and regain their trust in us and our services.”

Complimentary Offering and “Welcome Back” Appreciation Program
While there is no evidence at this time that credit card data was taken, the company is committed to helping its customers protect their personal data and will provide a complimentary offering to assist users in enrolling in identity theft protection services and/or similar programs. The implementation will be at a local level and further details will be made available shortly in each region.

The company will also rollout the PlayStation Network and Qriocity “Welcome Back” program, to be offered worldwide, which will be tailored to specific markets to provide our consumers with a selection of service options and premium content as an expression of the company’s appreciation for their patience, support and continued loyalty.

Central components of the “Welcome Back” program will include:

Each territory will be offering selected PlayStation entertainment content for free download. Specific details of this content will be announced in each region soon.
All existing PlayStation Network customers will be provided with 30 days free membership in the PlayStation Plus premium service. Current members of PlayStation Plus will receive 30 days free service.
Music Unlimited powered by Qriocity subscribers (in countries where the service is available) will receive 30 days free service.

Additional “Welcome Back” entertainment and service offerings will be rolled out over the coming weeks as the company returns the PlayStation Network and Qriocity services to the quality standard users have grown to enjoy and strive to exceed those exceptions.

SNEI will continue to reinforce and verify security for transactions before resuming the PlayStation®Store and other Qriocity operations, scheduled for this month.

PGU,

Cranking through missions on Valkyria Chronicles 2 on the PSP, I don't have as much time as I used to for games, and this is taking a lot of time, but then again, I'm also killing the game when a mission goes badly....LOL! So it's churning up the hours.

PSN being down has put a cramp on so many things, it's actually causing me to play much less on my PS3 - sadly. Oddly enough, I miss Home.

Ah well, things come back this week. Anyone want to bet whether an indie game maker comes up with a game where you can track and terminate system hackers? I'd buy it.

Hmmm....

I'm about 50 hours in, but I've been leveling and replaying missions, so I don't know how far into the game that translates to.

Your problem sounds annoying. Try deleting the install data from the memory stick, it will force the system to re-install, the other thing you could do is copy the game save off the card, remove if from the card, and then copy it back.

You might also want to check the disc has no damage or dirt/dust.

Only other thing I know to check would be whether the system is running the most up to date firmware.

I chose not to install the data, so that's a no-go. I tried deleting it from the memory card and reinstalling it, no such luck, as well as using a different card with no save data and still nothing. The disc doesn't have a mark on it, and I'm running 6.31. The changes between that and the latest seem not to be focussed on anything that may improve the running of the game, but I'll update next weekend, I can last until then.

Is it possible, do you think, that there is a flaw in the coding of the disc?

It's possible that there is a flaw on the disc, and at this point that's sounding rather likely.

If the game would start at all I'd suggest loading an older data file, but since it's not getting that far...

I don't suppose you made any system configuration changes? Like on a PSP2000/3000 disabling the option to cache UMDs? The other possibility if of course that the UMD's read head has got dirty...cotton bud and care required...You can probably find instruction online for what and how to do it.

'fraid not. I'm running a 1000, and haven't touched the system settings in a loooong time. But if the read head was dirty, wouldn't that affect other games as well?

I think I might call Sega to see if they can replace the disc... otherwise I'll just buy a new copy.
Thanks anyway.

ive always wanted to see how altiers story ended, so id love to see that.
BUT not untill we have finished the current story arc!
its driving me nuts, we have been waiting to see what minerva was going on about since november 09!
enough is enough!
give us AC3 this year, finish up the storyline, we play as desmond finding the temples and stopping the templars.
then and only then should we see any fill in, spin off, whatever the ^%$# you want to call it!

im quite excited for starhawk, simply because everytime i played warhawk i was constantly saying oh this would make such a cool campaign!
so finally we get to see that!
only wish zipper did that with MAG, that would be freaking sweet!
now seeing that they cant put out a propper SOCOM game.................

speaking of that atrocity thats what im playing now, well that and opperation flashpoint red river.
i hate it for the exact same reason i hated dragon rising.
you can get shot from EVERYWHERE!
your kneeling somewhere so someone shoots you, so you move, so someone shoots you, so you move, so someone shoots you, so you move, so someone shoots you.
WHERE THE BLAZING HELL CANT THEY SHOOT ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
gets really annoying too, you spend 40 minutes playing a mission, then die.
have fun redoing that 40 minutes all over again!
god i wish we could have manual saves back in games, im sick to death of redoing the same sh*t over and over and over and over and over again!
i love the tactical feel of opperation flashpoint, i love the openess of it, i love the heavy team reliability.
but for the love of god if were going to die so god dam easily and so god dam frequently at least give us a decent save system!
if we could save and load that save whenever we want id stick with it and finish it and probably would end up loving it.
but im sorry i dont have 30 minutes out of each hour to redo sh*t i just did!
then theres the technical side of it, i mean SOCOM 4 is not exactly contender for best looking game, but i swear to god opperation flashpoint red river LOOKS LIKE A FREAKING PS2 GAME!
WTF?
codemasters you do realize were in 2011 not 2001 right?
the ammount of pop in and jaggies is pathetic!
it has a 4GB HDD install but lord knows why because it takes so god dam long to load!
i thought the whole point of HDD installs was suppose to eliminate that!

it should be illegal to sell ps3 games in the state that its in!
your paying for a ps3 game and getting a ps2 game!
the fact that gold like uncharted 2 brand new costs the same as this junk highlights the issues of our pricing systems.
only way to stop developers turning out this junk is by limiting how much they can charge for it!
how much you want to bet the graphics, load times, bugs would all magically disappear if they were told they could only charge 50 bucks for it instead of 100 in the state its in.
funny how impossible things become possible when moneys envolved!

PGU: PSN being down force me to replay some of the games that otherwise would have kept collecting dust. This week it's been a pleasant rediscovery of Red Dead Redemption. Man, I'd totally forgotten how good that game really is, not to mention how good it *looks*. There is no excuse for Fallout to look as bad as it does when you see what *can* be done with a large open world. Oh how I wish Rockstar would make a RPG someday...!

Personal Dreaming Update: I've more and more often found myself thinking about how one would design a mmorpg from a technical point of view. The client/server workload. And I am more and more tempted at giving it a try. Just as my personal programming challenge. A small server that can handle clients and share a persistent world with them. Damn that would be so rewarding to get to work.

Regarding Warhawk I agree that it was an extremely accessible title, easy to "pick up'n'go", intuitive. But they have to *really* buff Starhawk with features to have any kind of chance whatsoever against todays multiplayer games. Warhawk was more or less just a shameless copy of Unreal (the game, not the engine). It worked back then, but not today.

Holy damn.... If that's all coming as DLC, other devs need to learn to show that kind of support. I just wonder how much they'll charge though.

I am a huge fan of AC2 and Brotherhood. However, I never played the first AC so I am not familiar with Altair. Now I realized if he is coming back, that is probably why Ubisoft just put the original AC on PS Store. A lot of people are probably late fans of the series like me. I am really not sure if I can spend my time on a trophyless game. This may be a first for me.

Ok so i need HELP here. Since my original 60GB got the ylod and ive been playing on a refurbished 120GB that sony sent me, am i screwed here or will the process to set up the new password on my ps3 be reletively simple? will i just need to contact sony about it in order to verify my identity? That would really suck if i would need my original ps3 in order for me to actually make a new password becuase uh... yea dont have it ANYMORE.

I expect the old password would need to be input first. You should be able to do it from any PS3.

If you go back and re-check what they said, they said that the password will need to be reset on the original PS3, or via email confirmation at your verified/registered email address..

swing 'n a miss

This password change is news to me. Come to think of it, I can't remember my password, and the email address has expired or something from not using it. Could be a good excuse to start afresh with a less embarrassing nickname.

You know it's awesome that Sony is doing this for everybody. I don't feel that they need to repay me for anything except the 1 month PS+ since by the time the store is back online it will have been about a month.

Just to make sure they don't piss some people off again the free item should be a PSN game not out yet. That way it'll make everybody happy.

Anyways can't wait to sync my trophies this week and see how far up I went.

yuh a new AC with altier is welcomed hes a great character. as ben said ubi please dont alter the controls & gaming physics a tactic like porsche of keeping the basic formula for the 911 turbo with enhanced features is something yal should follow also.

warhawk was either my 2nd or 3rd ps3 game it was a gift from my xlady with the jabra bluetooth & man i love that game. i love warhawk so much the ps2 graohics didnt phase me or none of folks who i ganged up with for coop online. havent played it since 09 though after my lil brotha got a slim he needed some games so i letem hold the top notch games to enjoy the ps3.

look forward to starhawk & now that it has a campaign i can enjoy a story in another realm & hopefully find out why the humans are beefing with the starwar looking folks.

my gaming life hassnt been much.... i thought bout runing threw GT5 jus so i know i beat it but with this temporary ps3 i dont want to have a list of cars again & losem allover. i had the money for MK but had to take care of biz its on my list though so eventually when funds are gravy i will buy that & several other games.

i was gone share the news bout psn but since we keep up with her i figured yal would know before i posted.

Ive been playing my imported copy of Mortal Kombat & what can i say, MK is back!!

The X-ray moves & fatalities are great but get old after a while, but overall i am quite surprised how easy it is to pull of combos & juggle, which i had a problem with in previous MK's.

On the horizon i am looking forward too Tekken Tag 2, AquaPazza (from the makers of Arcana Hearts), SkullGirls & Namco's 13 day announcement which most are predicting to be Soul Calibur V.

Hellz yeah.

Ben, when the hell did Ubi ever give any indication that they were going to change the basic foundations of AC? I'm just asking because I've never seen anything where they said that, yet you're always going on about it. I highly doubt they're gonna change this series' gameplay drastically so far in, and I think you're worrying a bit TOO much about it tbh.
