Ben's Week In Review: September 15

September 15. Exactly two months from now, and the PlayStation 4 will be available...as I still remember the PS1 launch relatively well, I can scarcely believe it. ;)

Not sure about GT7 coming out so soon after GT6

I love me some Gran Turismo, but I'm not sold on what I heard from Polyphony Digital boss and GT creator Kazunori Yamauchi this past week. He said that Gran Turismo 7 for the PS4 was only about "a year or two away" and that just seems...weird. GT6 launches on December 6 and even if it ended there, it'd still be a little strange to have the next full installment due in less than two years. But there's also the very good possibility that GT6 might come to the PS4 in 2014, which means the gap would be even smaller. One of the reasons that this franchise has always produced system-selling installments is because we usually have to wait for each stellar entry.

But with one coming so soon after the other, I wonder a few things. First, I wonder if people will pass on GT6 on the PS3, then pass on GT6 on the PS4, if they know GT7 isn't too far off. Second, I wonder if the racing fans will actually wait on purchasing the PS4 until they see a confirmed GT7. I know not all of you are part of the driving/car enthusiast crowd, but let me tell you this- all those people noticed this news and now they've got questions. Lastly, let's not forget that you can play GT games for a long time. We don't need them to come out every other year (or whatever).

This was actually my favorite PS4 news thus far

I'm not a tech geek or a graphics whore. I figure the PS4 and Xbox One will have pretty similar-looking games, especially during the first year or two. I love the fact that Sony's new console is much more developer-friendly. But I have to say, I think my favorite news is hearing SCEA boss Jack Tretton say that PS4 production yields have been "phenomenal." Yeah, it's true that they're holding some systems back from pre-orders to have a few to actually sell on launch day. One could argue that this kills off a little early hype, because only so many are immediately available to pre-orderers. But I've always said that if there could actually be a few consoles for regular consumers to buy on launch day, the PlayStation brand would get off to a much faster start. Availability is key; I've been saying that all year.

I think when something new comes out, and the mainstream consumer can't buy it, that product is still viewed as being part of a special club. In some ways, I guess that's cool. But it just builds on the stereotype that video games are still only for "certain people." Sure, meeting production demands can be tough, especially with something like the PS3 where the components are so damn expensive and rare. But the PS4 isn't like that. So, there's no reason why at least some PS4s can't be available to purchase on day one. There won't be many, I'm sure, but even one or two in a store can pique people's interest. Otherwise, they just wave their hand and go, "Oh, another video game system nobody will be able to buy for months."

Personal gaming update

I wish I could say I've finished the great Splinter Cell: Blacklist so now I'm ready for Grand Theft Auto V. Unfortunately, between the weekend trip to San Francisco last weekend, and being away again all this weekend (my girlfriend's sister is getting married), I just haven't had the time. My Vita got some solid play time, though, so that's good. And I really liked Killzone: Mercenary. I understand that my review may make it sound better than the 8.2 score implies, but I've slowly been trying to embrace a more realistic 10-point scale. I really don't like that people see scores of 7.5 and say the game sucks. That makes absolutely zero sense and it has long since bugged me, so I've made a conscious effort to shift a little.

Anyway, GTAV should be in my hands by Tuesday, so I'll be ready for an epic review when the times comes. That's probably my most anticipated title of 2013, just 'cuz I'm a huge GTA fan. And I might finally have a little time to play it, too, if my weekends can get back to normal. :)

That's why you preorder.

Got my ps4 fully paid for along with 5 other games.

My Xbox one day one edition has a down payment and so does Forza 5.

It still boggles my mind that Beamboom is going to miss out on GTA. Next gen starts when rockstar says so.

Carlos,
All earlier GTAs has come for PC as well so I take that for guaranteed that will happen with GTA5 too.
I am however nowhere near as certain if there will be a PS4 version. That is just hope, but I got a good feeling it will be.

And the "right version" for me is the version for a platform I plan on keep playing on for a very long time. And that is just not the PS3.

Killa,
thanks :) It will be insanely tough.

I agree about GT7. I think it had been best if PD said nothing of the sort and just kept quiet.

It's good about the PS4. I suppose having common x86 chips has it's perks in the production department. That and it would seem the PS4 isn't being nearly as outsourced as the XboxOne is.

I'll come around to KZ Mercenary's. I think people tend to have a thumbs up, thumbs down approach to game ratings. If a rating seems too soft it feels not worth their time because there's a line of other high rated games worth playing. I suspect the fail mentality with lower than 8 scores comes instinctual for a person as they detach emotionally from a game that may have had their interest at some point but squelch those feelings by hedging up the negatives for pacification.

PGU: Been doing DOA5 U, AC3, and Darksiders 2. DS2 has been having me a bit mixed. I really get the feeling of it being too reliant on stealing other popular franchises' qualities. I skim read a neutral review by eurogamer and this really rang true to me.
"For all its clever additions, however, Darksiders still struggles to offer much that's new. The first game was an endearing mash-up of Zelda and God of War, and although this one flings in Prince of Persia's traversal and Diablo's loot, it would be nice to see the odd element that couldn't be traced back quite so easily to a classic source. Tellingly, although it brings all of its borrowed mechanics together with great enthusiasm, it's never quite as good as its individual inspirations."

Anyway it's a fun game and all I just wish it felt more it's own. It chaffed me wrong when it shamelessly copied the LotR movies. The whole Construct thing speaking and acting like a Tryant. Then having it give Death a ride on his shoulders while the COnstruct refered to him as little one followed by taking him out to the valley and dropping him off near the gated area protected by none other than the 'eye of Sauron' just left me feeling like this thing was just short of gaming plagiarism. Anyway, maybe, just maybe it was some sort of inside parody for the devs but it really didn't come across that way to me.

playing the game now and found another rip off. so in distancing itself from Zelda, rather than a 'hook blade' to grapple I now have DMC4's glowing claw hand thing to get around. Nice ;)

I actually really like Joe Madueria's character art. I think in this game it comes across as too Blizzard Warcraft'ish, though.
It just really bothers me that I can't name even one significant thing about it that hasn't been taken straight from some other popular game.
I can even look at something like Sonic and at least say it's similar to Mario BUT a lot faster and has electric guitars and stuff.
Or I could look at Resistance and say it's different because it has unique guns, a Insomniac trademark. Or I could say God of War is different because of it's fearsome rage and larger than life mythological lore and scale. But there's not one dang thing I can say about DS so far that isn't something from some other game. It's like a bunch dudes got together and literally said, we love all of these favorite games, and LOTR, so lets stitch it all together to form one Frankenstein of a game. I don't know. Maybe someone can help me out here because I don't want to quit it because it has no soul of it's own.

The language from PD was peculiar, they said they would probably bring GT6 to PS4 and "call it GT7". So, maybe they just plan to upgrade everything from 6 and add in tons of new stuff for the new console and call it a sequel, maybe GT6 was built to be upgraded.

I'm starting to worry that I might not find a PS4 for xmas. That would not be good. Even though there aren't any games I want I still gotta be ready for inFamous if possible.

I beat Binary Domain, loved that game. Western stories are so predictable, this one really twisted me near the end. Then the end after the credits was like a classic 80's flick, great stuff.

Also beat Metro: Last Light. After playing the whole thing it was so impressive all around that it's pretty high in my top 5 FPS of the generation. I'd situate it right after Bioshock I think.

Bought Aliens for $9 on PSN, I'm willing to bet I will enjoy it since I know not to expect much. Always loved those first two movies so the nostalgia should be good.

Tried the Diablo III demo, it seemed okay like if it were a budget arcade title.

I think I'm closing in on the end of Xillia after 50 odd hours. Great game but I'm starting to get fatigued. I don't have the stamina I used to.

"they said they would probably bring GT6 to PS4 and "call it GT7""

Which article made it seem like they were saying this? For every interviews and articles I've read, whenever he talks about a GT PS4, NOTHING is said about GT6. In fact, this is definitely the ONLY site I'm a part of that thinks about GT6 PS4 every single time.

The "consideration" Kaz was talking about was making GT6 for the PS4 instead of PS3. After realizing that they could squeeze more out of the PS3, they decided to stick with the PS3 and also to adapt to the current PS3 install base. In the process, they were able to make an engine (from scratch) that they could simply build upon on into the next generation. One of the result of that is the ability for them to use Adaptive Tessellation on the PS3, which again is a next generation rendering method. His estimation of 1-2 year is simply a statement that the next generation Gran Turismo won't suffer a long process as GT5 did for the PS3.

You have to accumulate every article and interviews to get what he's actually saying. I know exactly which one article you guys are basing this whole GT6 PS4. Unless Kaz, had directly said, we're thinking about making "GT6" for the PS4, I don't understand how any of this concludes to a "very good possibility."

Here: http://www.psxextreme.com/ps4-news/664.html

Check the quote for subtext:

"The PlayStation 4 game, which we'll likely call GT7, will be done in about a year or two, I think, and I think the community aspect's going to be vital there as well."

"THE Playstation 4 game"? What Playstation 4 game? Ostensibly this must mean the next entry, and if it is "likely" going to be called GT7 then it can't be a fullly new entry and is probably just an overhaul of GT6.

Why? Because I don't think they are developing 2 different games side by side but could only reasonably (financially) be on a concurrent development cycle meant to get 2 games out of one endeavor. If it may or may not be called GT7 then it is not a full new entry and so is probably a upgraded GT6 whether they admit that or not.

I'm glad someone else here appreciated Binary Domain like I did. I just loved everything about that game and its story was really cool.

I agree with you on Diablo 3. Feels like it should be a PSN game for 20 bucks. In fact it felt like that on the PC and considering Torchlight 2 was only 20 bucks and in my opinion way better. Well there is no real reason for me ever to touch D3 unless I can get it for under 20 bucks.

I'm sure you will be able to find PS4s for around christmas. Sony would be shooting themselves if they didn't make sure there were enough for the holiday rush.

I dont see how Diablo 3 can be even considered and arcade or PSN game. The game is large enough and complex enough alone to warrant what it is. The game is just to big and deep.

I would suggest playing it more but I suppose the demo has you convinced otherwise. I dont know where the demo takes place but I can assure you, you are not getting anywhere near out of the demo that the game provides.

Yeah Xenris I loved it, such a different shooter experience compared to what we have in the west. I liked how it was a little RPG and had variable relationships with your squad mates. The boss design is some of the best 've ever seen.

Just my opinion, from only a mere demo anyway, D3 just doesn't seem near a 7th generation AAA game that took years to make. Don't get me wrong, top-down dungeon crawlers are great fun and you can do a lot with them but for the all the hype behind that game you'd think it was something mildly up to date.

I think it's too soon as well. Me thinks they should have made GT6 for PS4. A launch or soon after launch title.

I'm glad they're holding some back. It will allow me to pick one up sooner rather than later. It's going to be interesting watchjng the sales totals come launch time. Seems MS just keeps shooting themselves in the foot. First they terrible policies, then their flip flop, now developers are claiming the PS4 is 50% more powerful in key areas, which is great for exclusives but could mean bad news for MP's on PS4 given the track record of devs feeling like they need to developer for the lowest common denominator. >.<

Just finished Metroid Prime 2: Echos. I started a new file for MP3 Corruption last night. Man I wish there were more shooters like this. They're such great games. They're FPS's with Metroid mechanics and game designs. They're a perfect mix. Maybe Destiny will give us a similar experiance. I really hope Nintendo is working on another FPS Metroid for the Wii U. This universe in HD would be amazing. Especially with the near perfect motion FPS controls they nailed with Prime. This should keep me busy until Wind Wakers comes out. Not much else on the PS3 interests me at the moment. Though I am kind of curious about the size of GTAV's map. Maybe I'll pick it up when it's cheaper.

No, I should have picked it up when I had the chance. Nintendo isn't shipping anymore and used copies cost $80 plus. One thing I really don't like about Nintendo's business practice is they tend to give GameStop exclusive deals. They just recently shipped a few more copies of Metroid Prime Trilogy to them and GameStop turned around and started gouging people $80 plus for a copy. Same with an exclusive copy of Wind Waker that comes with a 5" Ganon statue. MSRP is $54.99, GameStop hiked the price up to $60. I wish they would stop that nonsense. I'd really like to play Xenoblade but its not going to happen unless I can find thr game for $50 or less.

I traded my copy of Gran Turismo 5, and I'll just wait for a complete edition of a next Gran Turismo game.

PGU:
Finished Tomb Raider and it's a good looking adventure game. The emotional moments are not that epic but not that really bad but that's okay, it serves it purpose in the story. I liked the optional tomb, nice design of the puzzle, simple and yet clever. And Lara's reaction every time she opens a treasure is funny when it's all just a map of real treasure item around the area.

Also finished COD Black Ops, and I did have fun with it. Killzone 2 looks better and have amazing AI but COD have crazy set pieces. The story did kept me interested. It's an action flick with a little bit of story. It's fun. By the way it's my first COD. I did play counter strike back in the days.

Also finished Batman Arkham City. Nice environment design and the music is freaking awesome. And Joker singing on the credits is a nice touch. But I wish that it has more in the main story, the side missions did make me bored a little so after doing some of them I just focus on the main story.

Next up is Modern Warfare 3 and then Ni No Kuni, finally.

He's under an NDA. Can't tell you until the embargo lifts. I predict he'll give it a 6.6.

Nah. I'll say... 9.4, based on the previews and hands-on impressions that I've read elsewhere. The real determining factor will be the story, because you can bet that the mechanics will be among the best to be found this generation. And I trust R* to bring it all together in a cohesive and all-around impressive whole. If the narrative doesn't live up to expectations, it will almost certainly bring it down a few notches, whereas a well-crafted and sublimely told one could bump it up as high as 9.8. But I'll still to the 9.4 benchmark, if only because GTA could have lost a little of its lustre over the past five years.

We probably won't see GT7 till 2015. I swear, you guys are worrying over nothing if you think the franchise is going to release every other year as a NORM.

2015 is perfect timing. Any longer, people will complain about when the next generation GT will arrive. And if you still believe GT6 is going to be released for the PS4, I feel sorry for you because your hesitation to get GT6 for the PS3 is also all for nothing.

Kaz is pretty firmed that the FIRST GT for the PS4 will NOT be GT6 by name or any other form. It'll be a new game built for the PS4, and for multiple times that it may most likely be called GT7.

Releasing GT6 PS3 in 2013, GT6 PS4 2014, and GT7 2015? I'm sorry that's just ridiculous.

I really don't think that GT6 will be ported to PS4, simply because of the fundamental architectural differences between the systems. GT isn't Battlefield or CoD, or even NFS. It's been built from the ground up to take advantage of everything that the PS3 has to offer and is, without doubt, the single best looking game on the system to nail that 1080p60 target (even if it is actually 1280*1080, rather than 1960*1080). The game's engine is tailored to the PPU/SPU design, so moving it over would be no mean feat, even with the incredible leap in raw power that the PS4 offers.

However, considering the "developer-friendly" PS4 architecture, it's easy to imagine that the core assets and certain parts of the engine can be ported over to save time in the creation of entirely new resources for GT7, thus reducing the iteration gap. I'd also like to assume that the the GT7 that Yamuichi mentions would be something more along the lines of GT8 Prologue, acting as the foundations for a much heftier experience another three years down the track. I mean, the reports that I've read indicate that that is what Polyphony has done with GT5/6. I could totally live with that.

Personal Update:
Finished Heart of Darkness. Erm... I'm gonna have to read it a few more times. It's certainly an interesting novella, but I don't really feel as though I took much away from this first reading. Moved onto Alex Garland's The Beach. Not far into it, but it sets a rather cracking pace and certainly gets you involved. It's interesting to read it too, and think that this is a guy that has also been involved in the writing of several movies and video games, and has received acclaim for his work in all three fields. I like it thus far, but it reads a little like a thriller so, we'll have to see how it pans out.
Finished The Last of Us. Hoping to get enough time this week to write out the breakdown that I've been hoping and planning to, but today's already wasted due to a combination of tiredness and having my niece and nephew here. Ever tried to work when there's kids around demanding your attention? Work quickly goes to hell in a handbasket. I've decided to start a new game of Midnight Club:LA to occupy time until next weekend, when I'll be picking up Puppeteer and GTAV.
Trying to write, but not making much progress. Just been having an off-week in general :/
Peace.

P.S. Ben, glad to read about you wanting to implement a better use of the 10-point scale. There are so few sources that actually manage to do that well. I think you've traditionally been pretty good with it, but it'll be nice to see games that would normally get an eight, being dropped down to seven for posterity's sake. There really is too much a bunching effect at the top of the scale, especially compared to films, where barely anything rates above a 85 from most professional critics.
I think a part of that in gaming stems from the fact that technology is always improving and the actual mechanics are constantly being refined, so it's difficult to say what something will be like to play in retrospect, thus making it more difficult to accurately gauge the score that it *should* get. I mean... The Last of Us is a benchmark now, in terms of narrative development, graphics and core gameplay mechanics, but will it still feel like that in three years? Five? Ten? Or will it just seem like just another product of its "limited" era?
It's a question that arises sometimes in my mind...

Personally I dont think GT6 should be releasing right now. They should have waited for the PS4. Really all this did was solidify my decision on if I should get GT6 or not. Ill waot for GT7.

Really looking forward to getting my PS4 in a couple months. Strangely enough Im gonna miss this generation and my PS3. Ill support it but dont think after Beyond theres much that womt be cross platform/generation. But the PS4 purchase will definitely limit my game purchases for awhile.

PGU: Been playing Diablo 3. The game is just BA. I can see myself dumping tons of hours into it as I have with Borderlands 2. The leveling system is super cool and each character is balanced well. The co-op is what it should be and developers need to pay attention. It offers tons of playtime and replayability probably up there with Borderlands 2. Combat is good, story is decent and despite its size doesnt take a back seat except to the loot! ;) I mean thats what the game is really all about.

I really commend the developers for taking the time to develop this game for consoles. Its benefited them well and is a very good thing for consumers. The bugs are gone, the controller works super good and in fact offers more mechanics to the player.

If anything I am just passing time before Grand Theft Auto V arrives, I actually got around to playing Resident Evil 5 properly in co-op and yes, it was a lot of fun - Still the as a series with a story, it has utterly tanked - The confrontation at the end was beyond absurd...

Another game I have been playing is the Zone of the Enders HD Collection - After reading it had been revamped completely into 1080p with a patch, I got it a fine price. I breezed through ZoE1, which I had played before. ZoE2 however, my gosh! I don't think I have ever been so frustrated at a game before... The leap in difficultly is ridiculous - To the point where I have had to restart on Easy and still stumble at moments... The reason for this is the A.I. is just far more offensive than the passive A.I. in ZoE. I want to ideally complete it before GTA5 arrives, but It may cause me to rage quite again :P

But yes Grand Theft Auto V is what all next week will be about, pre-ordered and already dispatched, I'm hoping I may even get it a day early as many people in the UK who preordered from Amazon already had it yesterday - Either way can't wait.

To who may be buying GTA5, what do you think you will do past the first initial mission? (I presume it'll start with an opening mission..) I'm honestly looking forward to just casually driving around and taking it all in. I wont be touching Online until after I complete the story, much like any other game.

i kinda took his comments as a good thing, it really seems he learned his lesson with GT5 and is trying to prioritize, to not bite off more than he can chew.
exactly what spoiled GT5, it was such a diluted game it lost sight of what its about.
im really hoping GT6 will go back to its roots, permits getting each of your licenses, than the track racing thats it.
id be nice to see a autovista mode like what forza has now introduced, its really cool being able to get up close and personal and get some history on each of the cars.
but that will probably be cramming too much in and end up turning out like 5, so ill make do with the licensing system that has made the GT series what it is.

its stupid holding back units and not letting people preorder them just so people can walk in and buy them.
defeats the whole purpose, walk in and buy them.
more like wait in line for like 10 hours to find out sorry weve sold out.
should just take preorders for every system they have available that way people know when they will receive theres and wont be waiting in line for 10 hours for nothing.
i remember getting to my local optus store 4 hours before opening for the iphone 4 thinking this is a really small shop no one goes here so its going to be deserted.
to only find people had been lining up since f*cking midnight!
and of course i waited in line for 4 hours for the store to open, plus another 3 for them to get through all the customers before me, for the manager to come out and say sorry folks stocks all gone cya later.
they wouldent even let us put a order down for the next stock so we had to go line up again when the second stock came in and again hope we get there early enough.
FUCK THAT!!!!!!!!!!
thats why from then on i preorder things, if i cant be guaranteed stock on the day i come i dont bother turning up.
ive got better things to do than waste 10 hours of my life waiting in line to find out stocks no longer available!
waiting 10 hours in que is bad enough, let alone learning you did it for JACK!

ive really been trying to finish off rayman ledgends and splinter cell blacklist but i just cant.
ledgends is such a twitch game its f*cking INFURIATING!
its not about how good you are at platformers, its how quick your reactions are.
and the camera does not help, especially in those chase missions where the level is moving and you cant stop if the end of the screen catches up to you than you die.
the cameras just too slow, so many times ive jumped off a platform only for the camera to reveal whats on the other side just as i jumped.
gee thanks for giving me so much time to react!

controls are really f*cked as well, especially with the wall running stages.
if your running right towards a wall you hold right to run up the wall, you jump left and now your running down the wall so you naturally think ok i need to now push the stick down because im running down but if you do that you fall off the wall and die.
its the same problem especially action games have had, you hold forward to enter a new room and as the level loads your now traveling in the opposite direction yet you hold the stick in the same direction and run in the same direction you were before.
the direction you held the stick to start the wall run is the direction you have to hold it otherwise you die, and making that problem worse if you come off a wall run and instantly need to jump your momentum stops immediately so instead of getting a running jump and having enough momentum to make the jump you get a standing still jump and dont jump far enough and die.
i gotta say NO game has caused as many rage quits as legends has!
such a shame, especially after the brilliance that origins was.

blacklist is just the inconsistency.
you have the guantanamo bay level which was just oh so brilliant, it put a massive smile on my face!
then it directly follows up with the plane assault, a level which is pretty much IMPOSSIBLE to play as a ghost style!
problem is they have the 3 different play styles, so they have designed levels to suit one of the playstyles, and tried to shoehorn in the rest.
some, like guan, are perfect for ghost.
others are nigh on impossible for ghost!
it just completely spoils it!
the levels where you absolutely MUST play ghost are f*cking BRILLIANT!
the rest, well, conviction was such a better game than this!
at least that let you choose how you want to play, not create the level to suit one playstyle than shoehorn in the rest.

plus, one more question.
WTFs the point of a ventilation shaft allowing me to avoid my enemies and go AROUND them, if it still exits RIGHT IN F*CKING FRONT OF THEM!?
one thing i LOATH about blacklist, it so rarely lets you go around your enemies, and when it does its never around its in the middle.
your on the ground and can walk stright up to them to the door, or you can take the ventilation shaft which exists exactly where you would be if you walked straight in front of them.
so whats the point of the ventilation shaft if it takes the same path as just walking on the ground?
the whole point of ventilation shafts, going above or below your enemies, is to AVOID them, not plonk me right in the middle of them!
plus, why is grim sometimes so helpful telling you when enemies are coming and best places to hide from them, and other times its like the team back on the paladin never exists?
its like the developers have made two completely different games at times!

again compounding the inconsistancy, whats up with heavies?
sometimes when i try to non lethal knock out a heavy it works, and sometimes it does not.
sometimes when i mark and execute to knock off their helmet, then throw a sleeping bomb they get knocked out, sometimes it has zero effect.
the menu says the proximity mine will incapacitate EVERYONE, sometimes it works on heavies, sometimes it does not.
WTF!?

speaking of conviction, why is the mark and execute and cover system SO MUCH WORSE!?
in conviction you could easily switch sides of cover, and move cover to cover, it was THE best cover system ever put into a game!
blacklists is just a freaking mess!
the mark and execute is really inconsistent too, sometimes i cant mark and execute but i can pop a enemies head off manually.
again, WTF!?

the worst part about blacklist though is the AI.
in conviction you could f*ck around with the AI, you could play cat and mouse with them.
you could throw a sticky camera and play music and they would piss their pants and run around looking for you, it was HILARIOUS!
blacklist, throw a camera and 90% of the time they will see you throw it and that will reveal your location.
if not, play music and that will reveal your location.
hell so many times my drone has been seen floating in the sky and that has revealed my location.
how do enemies deduce where i am just by seeing my drone?
what my drones above you, that means i have to be exactly 2.4 meters that way?
again on the AI, in conviction you could hide on a ledge and wait for a enemy to come to the window than attack.
blacklist, enemies can somehow see through the wall so when your on the ledge as there walking up to the window they see and attack you.
again, WTF!?

then theres the upgrades, ive upgraded my radar as far as i can, and yet 99% of the enemies wont appear on it.
even when i mark an enemy you would think he would show up on the radar, but nope!
ive upgraded my stealth suit as far as i can, hell ive even finished grims 4E missions so i can get the final piece, yet while crouching up to enemies they can STILL hear me!
WTFs the point spending all this cash, on all these upgrades, when there practically useless!?

blacklist was such a disappointment, i really was expecting it to be conviction but with the return of the famous gadgets and emphasis on non lethality.
but what i got was a inconsistent stripped down restrictive 1 step forward 1000 steps back version.
sad to say this, but hitman absolution is still the undisputed king of stealth games!
and will be for a long, long, time.

I'm excited for GTA5 but only the multiplayer portion. The GTA stories usually have some funny characters but really I never found anything that special about them.

The multiplayer however sounds like it will be like Red Deads only bigger and better which sounds amazing to me. The best part of this is they are selling it as a standalone as well so I will be getting that me thinks.

Played the GT6 demo and really liked it. Since beating the special cup in super mario kart this year I have taken a liking to racing games. I don't know if I will buy it but I really like the game feel to GT6.

PGU

Still going back and forth between Dragons Crown, and Rayman: Legends. These two games are my game of the year contenders right now. Dragons crown is just so much fun co op with my friends, and same with Rayman.

Rayman though, just has so much value. I'm having a blast with the daily challenges, competing against others across the world, and getting a new challenge every day is just awesome.

I have one complaint about Rayman though. The levels designed for the Wii U are the weakest levels. They didn't port over that smoothly and the accuracy sometimes gets you killed. Its not terrible but for speed run levels it can be a little annoying.

However the levels that have no Wii U influence to them and don't require your little green buddy are genius. The wizards over at ubisoft know how to make platform games, and some of these levels have really impressed me in their design.

Hopefully Ben will review the game sometime soon.

Even though I'm waiting on GTAV I look forward to all the comments coming in next week so I can read more about it from the gamers. It's fun when the community gets excited over stuff.

Are we going to see a review for Kingdom Hearts 1.5 HD Remix?

Just curious as to what PSXE thought of it. I love the game. The graphics look really impressive for a game over 10 years old. The HD upgrade really does work well, and compares to some current games, even beating some of them lol.

I see what you're saying about GT but from what I'm seeing I am thinking the next GT is more of a 5.5 or Prologue rather than a 6. It doesn't look sufficiently advanced over GT5.
