Activision announces the shipment of Blade.
Blade, a third-person adventure title based on the popular Marvel comic, has shipped today, Activision says. If you're familiar with the previous works bearing the Blade name, then the game's premise shouldn't surprise you, as the object is to vanquish vampires. The new adventure title boasts 21 levels and 32 creatures. Blade's weaponry is creative to say the least, as vampire hunting is done with the help of tools such as ultraviolet grenades, swords, and guns which fire silver-tipped bullets.
"The dark and foreboding atmosphere of the movie and the comic lends itself perfectly to a video game adaptation," commented Marucs Iremonger, the senior producer of Activision's European Studios. Iremonger continued, "As the first games ever based on the property, the Blade titles remain true to their source with incredible stories and unabashed over-the-top action."
In addition to the PlayStation version of Blade, Game Boy Color will also support an incarnation of the title. The 32-bit version's handheld counterpart will feature seven side-scrolling stages, 18 types of enemies, seven boss creatures, and three different styles of fighting. The PlayStation version of Blade carries an MSRP of US$39.99.
