Powerspike Pro Beach Volleyball ready to bump-set-spike onto the PlayStation.
Today, international videogame force Infogrames announced that its anticipated volleyball game entitled Powerspike Pro Beach Volleyball has shipped for the Sony PlayStation. Believe it or not, the title is the first volleyball game on the aging platform. It will boast instantly recognizable volleyball celebrities such as Gabby Reece, and also includes 40 other licensed players. In addition, the new title features a player editor mode. Other gameplay additions to Powerspike Pro Beach Volleyball include dink shots, flying shots, flying sand, dynamic crowd reactions, as well as 14 courts of international fame on which to play.
"Wouldn't we all love to find Gabby Reece and Sinjin Smith under our tree this holiday season?" teased Laddie Ervin, Infogrames' director of marketing for sports and racing. Ervin elaborated, "Powerspike Pro Beach Volleyball's licensed players and realistic gameplay capture the game of beach volleyball so well that gamers will think it's summer again!" Wow, I don't know if I've ever read a more honest statement in my life.
The PlayStation version of Powerspike Pro Beach Volleyball carries a retail price of US$29.99. A Game Boy version is also on the way, as the portable incarnation of the game is scheduled to drop in December.
