Evil Dead comes home for PSOne.
Third party developer THQ has recently confirmed the release of the survival-horror title Evil Dead: Hail to the King for the PlayStation game console. The current title draws inspiration from the movie trilogy. Evil Dead will boast the same main character found in the popular films, as Ash, portrayed in the movies by Bruce Campbell, will be featured in the videogame. The plot apparently revolves around Ash's pilgrimage to the jungle-shrouded cabin to rescue Jenny; the protagonist's girlfriend.
"Evil Dead: Hail To The King puts a new spin on the survival-horror genre by combining the successful formula of extreme action, cliff-hanging plotlines, and puzzle solving with Ash's signature humor," commented Scott Krager, THQ's executive producer. "As a huge fan of the movie trilogy, I was thrilled to be able to work with the Evil Dead creators in bringing the first games to the millions of fans anxiously waiting to play as the chainsaw-armed hero."
Aside from the game's environments and locations that stay true to the Evil Dead style, the adventure also places numerous weapons at the gamer's disposal. Some of the tools the player can utilize include an ax, a rifle, a shotgun, and of course, the chainsaw.
