PC Data releases pre-Christmas console sales numbers.
The industry watchdogs at PC Data have released the console sales charts for the week of December 23. The numbers show the fading PSOne with a robust lead over the technologically superior competition. Further strengthening Sony's position on the sales charts is the company's white-hot PlayStation 2, which has secured a healthy 22 percent market share en route to claiming the second position on PC Data's list. Sega's Dreamcast, on the other hand, was unable to plant seeds in fertile soil as the company failed to take advantage of a strong software showing and Sony's shipping difficulties. The Dreamcast was jolted into last position by the degenerating Nintendo 64 for the week in question. The following is PC Data's full console sales report for the week of December 23:
-PSOne, 292,000 units (34.7% share)
-PS2, 188,000 units (22.4% share)
-Nintendo 64, 181,000 units (21.5% share)
-Dreamcast, 180,000 units (21.4% share)
