Infogrames receives rights to Terminator license.
Announced today, Infogrames will be receiving the licensing rights to develop games on both the Terminator and Terminator 2: Judgment Day films. Although specific platforms have not been announced, the company holds all rights to release related games on any console of their choice. Infogrames currently has four associated projects in development, with the first Terminator game being released in spring of 2002. Both titles in the series will make use of the films post-apocalyptic setting and will incorporate elements of time travel. The line of games will focus on characters from the film, with T2: Judgment Day including additional characters and story elements.
Although Infogrames has secured the licensing rights to both games, it has yet to negotiate for the upcoming Terminator 3 picture, which has been reported to have plans of videogame development. With numerous other games based on movies already released, the Terminator series hopes to use the action/horror genre to their advantage. Infogrames believe the Terminator series is an excellent platform to build from.
