It's true, it's true! Harry Potter finds his home. Who is it?
Earlier this week we heard a rumor that EA and Warner Bros. may be thinking of coinciding to bring gamers a game based on Harry Potter. This agreement gives EA the right to publish, develop and distribute games based on all four Harry Potter adventures including future releases. Currently the four books are Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, and Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, all books have cause quite a frenzy in Barnes and Nobles or any other well known book store. Not only does EA get a hold on the book franchise but they will also have rights on to creating a game based on the future movie(s). We can be all expecting a slim chance of seeing the game on Dreamcast, because of EA's recent decision saying that they won't be developing for the DC anytime soon.
This is what the president of EA [Don Mattrick] had to say: "EA has accepted the challenge to create a series of interactive games that reflect the incredible imagination of J.K. Rowling's books". He followed his statement with "we are extremely excited to become part of the Harry Potter phenomenon by bringing our own brand of interactive magic to this fantastic series." Following EA's statement, the president of Warner Bros. Worldwide Consumer Products Dan Romanelli had this to say on the deal, "with the Harry Potter series of books, J.K. Rowling has created an interactive experience that has sparked the imaginations of readers worldwide" and followed with "Warner Bros. Consumer Products continues to be focused on capturing the magic of Harry Potter and we look forward to working closely with EA to bring this experience to the gaming world."
This is surely great news not only for EA but for younger gamers as well. I am fully confident that the Harry Potter will make it to the PS2, therefore I felt that it was the right thing to do by writing an article based on this news. Selling over 18.5 million copies in total the Harry Potter franchise is sure to top Pokemon this Christmas.
