Sony expects profit
Released Monday at a press conference, Sony’s CEO officially announced that the company will expect to return to profitability in their games unit at the end of March 2002. With the PSX and PS2 already producing profit as of now, Sony expects the reduction in price of related components to also lower development costs, which will greatly aid in profit. Also expected is the increase of sales in Europe during the holiday season with the price drop of the PS2. As Sony continues to stick with its figure of a forecasted 20 million PS2 units sold by March 2002, it will be interesting to see how things come out. Stay tuned to PSX Extreme as we will keep you posted on related events.
