PS3 Now Folds

No, you can't pack it up and tote it around. The Playstation 3 is huge and you're just going to have to live with it! But this does have something to do with people who have to live with much worse - cancer and other crippling diseases.

The distributed computing project Folding@Home is taking advantage of Cell's raw power to help process the almost innumerable calculations needed to find a way to cure these diseases. It's a noble cause and an unexpected one to find a home on a video game console.

Users will be able to run a similar application on their PS3 called Cure@PS3 which will do roughly the same thing as the original. So when you're not playing games, you can help save lives! How's that for multi-functionality?
