Sony: Lik-Sang's Accusations Just "Sour Grapes"

As is normally the case, Sony defends itself against attacks they deem inappropriate or illegitimate. In the case of Lik-Sang's accusation regarding their closing, where they blamed Sony for their downfall, Sony definitely has something to add.

Sony has called the retailer's complaints nothing more than "sour grapes," and denies any responsibility in Lik-Sang's demise. Their statement was very clear, and in stark contrast to the now-fallen retailer's claims.

"Lik-Sang did not contest this case (i.e. they did not turn up and therefore incurred no legal costs). We have been awarded substantial costs against Lik-Sang which have not been paid," reads the statement. "We would therefore strongly deny that our actions have had anything to do with this website closing."

Furthermore, this is hardly the first time Lik-Sang has suffered legal trouble. In 2002, the Big 3 (Sony, Microsoft, Nintendo) all alleged copyright infingements over the sale of modification chips, but that didn't seem to cause Lik-Sang much financial difficulty.

Sony also had a problem with the retailer releasing the names of corporate executives who purchased Asian PSPs through Lik-Sang.

"We would also like to express our surprise at a company releasing personal information about its consumers, as this is contrary to data protection principles around the world," stated Sony.

As this new information comes to light, we may be forced to relegate Lik-Sang's accusations as nothing more than unfounded whining.
