Enix releases red hot Japanese Dragon Quest VII sales.
Enix may be giving Square a pretty hard time with its new Dragon Quest (Warrior) game, Dragon Quest VII. The incredibly anticipated game has soared off the shelves selling two million copies in a two day period. Square's Final Fantasy IX shared nearly the same numbers, having shipped around 2.8 million units to date. Square also plans on selling 3 million total copies of FFIX by year's end and Enix will be shipping an extra 1.2 million copies of DQ VII next week, September 2, totaling 3.2 copies shipped out to retailers. Enix representatives have commented on a US PS release date following shortly after the Japanese date, that means Dranon Warrior VII may be here around January 2001.
