Fourth Resident Evil Movie Possible
Well, in the realm of movies based on games, the "Resident Evil" trilogy isn't too bad. Paul W.S. Anderson did manage to make them semi-entertaining despite the lousy critic feedback, and he also has the original "Mortal Kombat" to his credit. Therefore, we accept the news that a fourth RE movie could be in the works with a hopeful shrug.
According to the MTV Movies blog, Anderson is currently in the process of negotiating a fourth "Resident Evil" big-screen installment, which probably won't surprise anyone who saw the last one, "Resident Evil: Extinction." We won't give away the ending, but let's just say it begs for a sequel. However, despite this story cliffhanger, it seems Anderson isn't sold on just continuing that plot line, as he indicated in this comment:
"I love the Resident Evil franchise and we always try to make the best possible movie we can. If we could find a good Resident Evil 4 to make, then we would do it. But I wouldn't just do it for the sake of it, that's for sure."
Well, that's good news. Movie critics can spot lame, half-hearted, "I just did it for the hell of it" projects, and so can gamers who avidly follow one of their favorite franchises. But anyway, even if a fourth RE movie doesn't arrive, Anderson is already planning to immortalize other games on the silver screen, like Spy Hunter and Castlevania. He's not bad at this whole game-to-movie thing, but he best not mess up the latter!
