Wahlberg Won't Play Max Payne Due To "Addictive Personality"

Update: Depending on the source and how it's worded, it seems there may be a misinterpretation of the facts.  Wahlberg IS apparently part of the movie...he just won't play the game.  Based on previously accumulated evidence of Wahlberg involved with the film, this appears to be a logical conclusion.  At the very least, though, the title of the article remains true. ;)

Original Story:

Earlier this year, we heard the rumor that actor Mark Wahlberg might be set to play the role of Max Payne in an upcoming film. However, Wahlberg himself has shot down the idea, but perhaps you'd be interested in the reason...

According to Showbizspy, Wahlberg has refused the role because he has an "addictive personality," and he's afraid that taking this on will cause him to spend far too long with the video game. We assume he's talking about playing a Max Payne title in order to prepare for the role, which is admirable (we're willing to bet some actors wouldn't even bother; they'd just take cues from the director), but the quote is still intriguing; here's what he told

"I didn't want to play because I have an addictive personality. I got more responsibility now than I've ever had with the kids and everything else. I don't want to be spending 14 hours on the videogame and then eight hours on the set. It's not going to work out."

Well, considering we think Wahlberg might make for a solid Max Payne, we'd like to extend this helpful hint: you wouldn't have to spend 14 hours playing, Mark. We doubt you'd get "addicted" to the point where you'd play that long, and besides, we're not sure it even takes that long to complete a Max Payne game. Also, if you don't want to play, we're sure you could find the script for the game and simply read it. That would give you all the info you need for the character. There, see? You can do it. ;) But if not, the movie makers will find someone who's a good fit for the role.
