PSXE's Best Of The Best Polls Update: Clear Victory For MGS
Well, another round in our Best of the Best Poll series has completed, and once again, the readers have made it very clear who should receive the coveted Gold Medal: this week, it's the legendary Metal Gear Solid.
Konami began a revolution back in 1998 and since then, Hideo Kojima and Co. have continued to redefine the nature of our industry with each successive incredible installment. But we can never forget that it all began in the freezing cold at that mysterious compound, where we first cycled through our items and weapons and began to get a feel for the new gameplay. We avoided those spotlights with a nervous thrill, crawled toward that sleeping guard in the upper left, careful of the camera, and entered the vent. And the rest, as they say, is history. It's the amazing storyline that has always cemented this franchise as the best of the best, but the gameplay has always been both innovative and intriguing. There's very little one can say in terms of criticism, in regards to the original or any MGS title, so we won't even bother to try. You guys all know how great the original game was, and we imagine it will give Final Fantasy VII a run for its money when we move on to the Best Overall PS1 Game.
Here are the final results for the Best PS1 Action/Adventure Poll:
Gold Medal: Metal Gear Solid
Silver Medal: Resident Evil 2
Bronze Medal: Spyro: Year of the Dragon
RE2 had the Silver pretty well nailed from the start, but as has been the case over the past few weeks, there was a bitter battle for the Bronze. Spyro: Year of the Dragon just edged out Tomb Raider, so it seems you guys give the nod to the little purple dragon; Lara Croft just didn't have enough in that big bust line, huh? Anyway, the new Poll is now up, and we have moved on to the Best PS1 Sports/Racing game, which is destined to be one of the most competitive. Don't wait; vote now! And feel free to talk all about it in the official Best of the Best Poll thread in the forums.
