Dave Mirra Freesyle BMX takes the 6th spot on the sales charts.
On October 2nd, Acclaim Max Sports announced that their BMX title Dave Mirra Freestyle BMX game is the sixth best selling game on the charts. Of course there is no doubt about the first position being held by Tony Hawk 2, but it still comes with a surprise to me seeing that Thrasher: Skate and Destroy, which was based on the same engine that was used in Dave Mirra Freesyle BMX, didn't even make top 20 (correct me if I am wrong). "We are pleased with the early sell-through numbers for Dave Mirra Freestyle BMX," says Pete Roithmayr, vice president of merchandising, video games division of Electronics Boutique. "This is a direct testament to the growing popularity of the extreme sports genre and the exceptional high quality of the product. We look forward to continued sales success through the holiday season."
"What is most impressive is that the game's early success has been achieved with only a part of our marketing activities reaching the consumer," stated Steve Felsen, brand director of Acclaim Max Sports. "The full force of our nationwide marketing campaigns are just starting to get underway highlighted by a nationwide television campaign featuring Dave Mirra and cross-promotions with targeted outlets."
