PS2 and PC games on your DVD player?

The Register has recently reported that Acer Labs is working on technology that would make it possible to play Playstation 2 and PC games on your regular DVD player.

The British Website has stated that the technology Acer is working on to make this possible is a new RISC processor, which the company plans to make run an Acer-developed OS equipped with an emulator to handle the games the technology will play. However, it is still unclear whether Acer plans to have the technology run PSOne or PS2 games. It would certainly seem the smarter marketing choice to go with the PS2 titles, but no official announcement has been made from the company. This could be a story to keep your eye on if you have a DVD player, but don't plan to purchase the PS2 system itself. Not much detail is available at this point, but it sounds like an intriguing project.
