WCW Backstage Assault set to spear the PlayStation.
In addition to shipping the golf simulation Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2001, Electronic Arts has also shipped the wrestling game, WCW Backstage Assault. The title's 'out of control and illegal in forty-eight states' action has made WCW titles very popular, and the tradition is continued in this installment. However, the free-for-all gameplay occurs in fully interactive outside-the-ring environments. Gosh, it's about time wrestling started breaking some rules. The sport is far too gentile and soft as it is. However, at the very least the new styles of gameplay provide a change of scenery. Gamers will be able to use rubber tires in the same fashion as ropes inside the ring, and will also be able to perform aerial attacks in the bathroom stage by leaping off of the lockers. WCW Backstage Assault boasts sixty-two WCW wrestlers which are to do battle in the game's sixteen different environments. The title features several play modes, which include exhibition, hard-core gauntlet, as well as the hard-core challenge.
Kodiak Interactive is the developer for both the PlayStation and Nintendo 64 versions of WCW Backstage Assault, which will be released for the N64 on the twelfth of December.
