V-Rally 2 Preview
Surely this will be the year of racing games. First off we've got the king of racers Gran Turismo 2, which should be out around December, then we've got Inforgrames' (formerly Accolade) Test Drive 6, and now EA and Infogrames will bring us one of the best looking racers yet. EA's new title is called "V-Rally 2 presented by Need For Speed", it should be available this November and it looks like it will be one of the most pleasing PSX racers ever.
One of the things that make this racer so pleasing is that the game features a four player mode via multi tap. Although not much is known on the frame rate, I'm pretty sure that EA will not less us down. The second thing that will make this racer so amusing is that the game features a massive amount of tracks, around 80 of them. Not only that but the gamer has the opportunity to create more tracks. You can change the weather, the length, and the course surface. V-Rally 2 also feature around 26 cars to choose from, from which 10 of those 26 are hidden. All of the vehicles are licensed. And not only does the game feature Rally cars but it also features Off Road vehicles as well.
As for the graphics in V-Rally 2, they are expected to be nearly flawless. Judging by the screenshots that I saw, the car detail is like something I have never seen before. EA has claimed that the cars will move exactly like their real life counterparts, and I have always trusted EA so I have nothing to fear. The mud effects and the weather effects look great so far. The rain drops look very realistic, and the mud splashes are very nicely detailed. All that and the car detail still remains top-notch, (so much for Dreamcast).
V-Rally 2 doesn't have a long way to go for it's release, and if nothing goes wrong then the title can turn out to be one of the best racers EA has ever pulled out of the hat. Four player goodness right at your finger tips, is coming this way in November. Anybody who enjoys racers has to pick up V-Rally 2. GT 2 you better watch out.
