Winter '99

Looking toward a winter '99 release, the remake of the sequel to Lunar: The Silver Star, is coming. Due to the popularity of the current remake, Lunar: Silver Star Story Complete, it looks like this will fare well. It will span three discs and it has not yet been said if it will include all the extras and special treats the first Lunar had. Like the first, Working Designs will be remodeling the sound, graphics, storyline, characters, and cinemas. The game will consist of roughly about an hour of anime.

The battle system will be the same old Lunar Style battle layout. When you use a physical attack you must move up to the opponent. If you are out of range you will stop as far as you can go which may leave you in a very vulnerable situation. You can move around when defending to get out of the line of fire, too.

A very welcomed adjustment is the fact that now every one has access to the same inventory. Unlike in Lunar where you had to hand out a limited capacity of items from Nall's vast inventory. If you ran out of items mid battle, you could not access Nall's inventory. This will be a very good adjustment.

As for the story, it takes place one thousand years after the adventures of Alex and Luna. You play Hiro, ( which I believe is pronounced Hero) a restless youth who is need of an adventure. He lives with his grandfather who is trying to excavate some treasure, and a small pink dragon (who looks like Nall) named Ruby. Near where he lives there is a "Blue Spire" which is always locked. The story begins when he enters it. I have heard that the game will be much darker, especially near the end which might feel unusual for fans of the first. But I don't think it will be a bad thing.

Aimed for a Christmas release, I think this second remake in the Lunar series will be just as memorable as the first.
