Thrasher: Skate and Destroy Preview
At first there were almost no skateboarding games, and all of the sudden the competition is strengthening in that part of the market. You are probably asking why in the world the word "Thrasher" appears in the title. The answer is simple, they called it after the Thrasher Magazine which was very popular when skateboarding was hot. To be on top of the competition against upcoming games like Tony Hawk's Pro Skater, Z-Axis is developing the first skateboarding simulation title.
Why is this a simulation game? Because a career mode will be included in the game. Like in most career modes, your player starts out as nothing and works his way up to be famous. You'll be sponsored by various companies both local town and nationwide sponsors.
To spice up the the game, developers added real-life arenas that are very popular for skateboarding. These are 12 huge areas with various obstacles to pull off your tricks. Executing the tricks in combinations should be simpler, but don't expect it to be a breeze.
Plenty of modes to keep the replay value as high as possible. Horse Mode will let you compete against another skateboarder by copying his moves, and if you fail you will lose a point. In Sick-Hits Mode the harder you fall or slam against the wall will result in higher score. Although the Career Mode is the most important aspect of the game, having extra modes never hurts.
The game will be released in December for the holiday season, so we have plenty of time to go. As we approach the release date, this preview might be updated. But in overall, expect to see a good competitor to Tony Hawk's Pro Skater.
