40 Winks Preview
I've played many adventure games in my life of gaming. Everything starting from the old days of Zelda and Mario (NES) to the new age of Crash, Spyro and Ape Escape. The most enjoyable adventure games are the ones that have the ability to practically roam around anywhere in a 3D environment. Well it looks like I have to add GT Interactive's 40 Winks to my list of favorite Action/Adventure titles.
40 Winks features a 2 player co-op mode. This is a feature you don't usually see anymore, especially in 3D platformers. So 40 Winks looks to be of the few adventure games that actually has a co-op mode. In a way this game reminds of Gex. In 40 Winks you have the opportunity to change into different costumes. You can change into a superhero, robot, ninja and many more.
The graphics engine, is sweet. It looks to me like Eurocom spent a lot of time making the graphics look superb. Very bright colorful environments give the game more character and more fun. The lighting effects are very nicely made, and the rain drops and the water look very detailed. Now the main characters look very detailed as well, they've got eyes that move and blink, they've got mouths, noses, and ears. I guess you get the picture that the game is very detailed in graphics.
The game features very easy control that even a two year old would understand. Triangle is to look around, O is for a special, Square is to attack, X is to jump. The analog is supported very nicely in this game. The game has many degrees of motion, while playing with analog sticks. And 40 Winks also utilizes the L3 button. Push it down for a jump.
40 Winks should be released before the holiday season. Somewhere around November. 40 Winks also features six worlds that must be completed, Atlantis, castle, haunted house, pirate ship, an alien planet, and the prehistoric age. It's a game that nobody should miss out on no matter who you are and what your age.
