Spyro the Dragon made huge waves when he first hit the PS back in '98. Spyro's first appearance on the Playstation was quite impressive, Insomniacs was pushing the PS' limits quite a lot with Spyro. Spyro's world is incredibly bright, filled with vibrant, striking colors that no other adventure game has seen. There was a lot of detail in the visuals, frankly to sum up the graphics with a single word: groundbreaking! Spyro's whole clan of dragon's were frozen by The Nasty Norg and it is up to Spyro to rescue them all. Last year in November Spyro 2: Ripto's Rage was released, and again it was another great Spyro game, this time with improved visuals and deeper gameplay. Another year another Spyro, right? Well yeah, but this one will surely be the best of the bunch. Check out first screens and the preview of Spyro's third and final PS adventure.

When I thought that the visuals couldn't get better they just did. Insomniacs have made their third Spyro title look better than ever. Larger environments, more colors, and some eye candy. This will surely be the one of the prettiest 3D platformers the PS has seen. Spyro's details look just as great as ever, his wings are still pretty to look at, his horns are still sharp as ever, and his world is still full of vibrant looking things. As in the past, the game looks far better in motion than it does in screens (duh), this will surely go down as one of the most visually stunning PS games out there.

So what new adventure is in store for Spyro? How about Dragon eggs being kidnapped and spread throughout an unfamiliar world to Spyro and his dragon family. A sorceress has stolen all of the soon to be hatched dragon eggs and has hid them all over her mystical world. She left a Gopher sized hole open only big enough for Spyro to fit through, and everything is pretty much self explanatory. There are a total of 140 lost baby dragons and it has been reported that 40 hours of gameplay will be involved. This will positively be the longest adventure game yet. We're not done yet, not only are there many eggs to find but there are 12 mini-games including skateboarding, flying, thief chase, and many more. Then we have extra four playable characters who have a bone to pick with the evil sorceress. Meet Sheila (Kangaroo), Bentley (Yeti), Sergeant Byrd (Penguin who can fly), and Agent9 (a Space Monkey).

Insomniacs will go all out to make the last PS adventure for Spyro his most memorable one. Spyro: Year of the Dragon will have tons of replay value and may end up as being one of the best platformers, period. The game is scheduled to ship this November 2nd, start saving.
