Crash Bash Preview
As soon as this playable copy of Crash Bash arrived I damn nearly kissed my delivery man, thankfully I kept my cool. For those who are still in la-la land, Crash Bash is Crash Bandicoot's take on what Mario has done with his somewhat quickly tedious Mario Party games. Crash Bash is a four player title, published by Sony and developed by Eurocom, instead of Naughty Dog who has been behind the aussie creature since day one. The game of course works via Multi-Tap, all four characters are shown on one screen with absolutely no slowdown whatsoever. Since this is Crash's last Playstation game, Universal decided that he should have a bash thrown for him and out came Crash Bash. Read the hands-on preview and check out the finger lickin' screen shots that we took for your viewing pleasure.
Just like any other Crash Bandicoot that has graced Sony, Crash Bash has some very glossy visuals to accompany the incredibly fun gameplay. The character detail is superb, if I didn't know any better, I would guessed that Naughty Dog was behind the operations for the game. Crash Bandicoot is designed wonderfully, he shares the same distinct qualities that have always made him my favorite among all the other gaming mascots. Crash's enemies have all returned in order to accomplish that sweet revenge that they've been so desperate in achieving. Along with his enemies, come Crash's sister Coco who is actually the only other 'good guy' (or girl) in the game. The environments in the game are based on earlier stages that Crash has beaten in earlier games, the forest and the arctic are just two set atmospheres out of nine that you will be able to battle on. In the arctic area, you can actually see the reflection of your character in the ice, that just shows that Eurocom will want to live up to what Naughty Dog did with Crash Team Racing. The explosions are also filled with great eye-candy colors just like all the other Crash titles have been in the past. Sadly this may be the last exclusive Crash Bandicoot game that Sony sees, but the final result is looking great though.
We invited two friends to check out the game's four player battle mode and the result was quite impressive. Bursts of screaming due to joy and defeat would come out of my mouth, while the others were just damn lucky they have the chance to play the best party game of their life (we also duct taped their mouths... just kidding). Not since Crash Team Racing have four ridiculously crazy people (such as us) have come together to enjoy one's plunge into freezing water, or a defeat by one measly point in a Pogo stick party game. After the war ended, we felt as if it was the year 2020. We had been playing Crash Bash for so long that our controllers were literally slipping away from us, okay, okay we played the game for about two hours, but it was still fun.. The final will let you control eight Crash Bandicoot characters such as Crash, Coco, Neo Cortex, Tiny, Dingodile and Neo Brio. Unlike Mario Party's 15 second games, some battles can literally last for up two two to three minutes, and that's quite a long time. The modes include, Adventure that can be playable up to 2 players or Battle mode which can be played with 4 players. I am anxiously anticipating Crash Bash and the game may very well end up as the best multi-player game of the year or even on any console, PERIOD!
