Yet another masterpiece from the makers of all Final Fantasy games, SquareSoft has brought us another excellent RPG, called Xenogears. Xenogears was first released in Japan and there were alot of doubts that the game will ever hit shelves in the US. There was a rumor that there was alot of religion talk in the game. But Square denied that rumor and later on released Xenogears in the states. Xenogears was crowned "RPG game of the year" a little later after it's release, and I don't disagree at all.

Xenogears has the most innovative fighting engine yet, the fighting engine is alot different than any other RPG fighting engine you have ever seen. When you fight you and you select the "Attack" option you see a list of attacks you can do, triangle = 1 point, square = 2, X = 3. If you look at the bottom of the screen you will see a number/number. When you first start out it will look something like this 3/3, those are the points. For example: if you press triangle and square you waste all of your points. The more levels you gain the more points and special super combos you get.

Now why don't we get on to the basics. The graphics in Xenogears look good but sometimes when you are running around they seem outdated. But when you are in a gear battle they look very good. The sound as always is excellent since it's a Square game. The gameplay and the story is very good and very well told. The control takes very little time to get used to. As for the value of the game it is very very long. The first CD is 60-70 hours long, and the second CD is about 20-25 hours long. By the way if you like Anime's you should really check out Xenogears because the anime's in the game are so hot. And on top of all of that, the intros are the greatest ever.
