When the first Bloody Roar game came out, people really enjoyed fighting as a human who has the ability to transform him/herself into a beast. Well the beasts are back with a stronger punch. The game features 11 characters 9 which are selectable from the start and 2 hidden ones. Most of the characters are back to take a bite out of you.

Graphically speaking the game has improved, mostly the resolution has been tuned up but just slightly to give the characters a smoother look. The backgrounds also look very well. Let's get back to the character animations, personally I think the characters could have used a more smoother look, like the kind in we have seen Ehrgeiz. Don't get me wrong here because I still think the graphics in BR2 are very good, but just need a little more work.

Gameplay wise BR2 takes some time to get used to, such as the fighting engine, but before you know it you will be pulling off ten hit combos, and knocking your opponent out of the arena. Although the game has only 11 characters, this time the beast of the character has his/her own moves, so you can assume the game has 22 instead of 11 characters. But all in all the gameplay is a blast and so are those 20 hit combos.

Bloody Roar 2 has very good, and believe me when I say very good sound. The soundtrack basically consist of Modern Rock music which is kind of cool. Second of all at a few stages the game has very nice echoing, such as the aquarium. I also liked the idea of the character taunting the defeated opponent with a real voice, no captions just a real voice.

Well, the control takes very little time to get used to but it is the most crucial features you must get used to in order to make the experience of the battle more fun. If you get used the controls fast you can start pulling of those 10+ hit combos.

As many of the good fighting titles do, the game has a lot of replay value, because if you want to earn all of the custom options and secret players you must beat each mode in a certain way. For example to get Shen Long you must never use continues and defeat him. Or to get Gado beat him and he will be selectable on the player select screen. The game features quite a number amount of modes, starting from Arcade, VS, Story, Survival, Watch, Custom (practice mode is in here), and as always Options.

In conclusion Bloody Roar 2 is a very well made fighter but falls very short from becoming friends with mega hits such as Tekken3, SFA3, and Ehrgeiz. If your a fighting game fan then by all means go pick this one up.
