The guide will cover all aspects of the game in three sections:

you play the game from characters to storyline.

--WALKTHROUGH: This section will detail the entire walkthrough of 
Rayne's adventure for bloody redemption.

--RAYNE - OBJECT OF CARNAL DESIRE
When we last saw Rayne in 1935, she joined forces with the shadowy 
Brimstone Society to destroy a supernatural Nazi bid for dominance. Her 
father, Kagan, an influential Nazi collaborator, was killed in an 
accident at the close of the War. Cheated of killing Kagan herself, 
Rayne has spent the last sixty years ferreting out and destroying his 
many offspring - her siblings. 

They have banded together and formed the cult of Kagan - pledging to 
carry on his legacy of creating a new era of vampire supremacy where 
humans are mere cattle for bloodthirsty predators that hunt them. 
Rayne's nefarious siblings have created "the Shroud", a mysterious 
substance which, when released, renders the sun's lethal rays harmless 
to vampires and twists nature into a nightmarish perversion.

Now only Rayne stands between an unsuspecting humanity and a horrifying 
vampire dawn.


--SEVERIN
Severin is Rayne's trusty "sidekick". He will guide Rayne throughout 
the entire game and will tell her what to do next (even if Rayne 
doesn't listen at times). 

Don't take a cue from Rayne and listen to Severin when he instructs you 
to do something! If you get stuck in a section of a level, it's because 
you didn't listen to him!


--KAGAN
Nazi's don't die. They live for 70 years and wait for the best moment 
to strike again. 
Kagan seems to have survived the last encounter from 1935 and is on the 
prowl. How did he survive his death?


--EPHEMERA
Ephemera is Rayne's half-sister. With the ability to control the 
shadows to regenerate her health, it makes fighting her a complete 
waste of time.

And besides, when was the last time you saw an S&M bondage girl with no 
eyes?


--FERRILL
Ferrill is Ephemera and Rayne's very annoying "F-bomb" half-sister. Her 
intentions go beyond just serving Kagan. What are Ferrill's intentions?


--ZERENSKI
Daniel Zerenski is Rayne's annoying half-brother. He owns the mansion 
that Rayne infiltrates in the first level of the game.


--XERX
A sophisticated but mad scientist, Xerx has spent his time creating 
"the Shroud" - a device that renders the sunrays harmless for vampiric 
hordes. What is his connection with Kagan? 


Except for Severin, every enemy, boss, and sub-boss in this game are 
all annoying bitches. And to me: ALL BITCHES AIN'T SHIT!


**BOSS TIP: Unlike a game like Ninja Gaiden, most of BR2's bosses and 
sub-bosses really don't need much pattern solving or strategy to 
defeat. The real strategy is to activate Blood Rage and use it until it 
empties out. Refill Rage by feeding on the annoying enemies that keep 
stopping by and continue the pattern until the boss dies.

Rayne has only three sets of weapons throughout the entire game 
(technically four if you count her luscious fangs).


HARPOON - this is a morbid semi-rip-off of Scorpion's harpoon from 
Mortal Kombat. She can use the harpoon to disarm thugs and enemies and 
fling them into nearby death traps (which is necessary in some parts of 
the game in order to continue).
Unfortunately, the harpoon CANNOT be used to lure enemies closer for a 
feeding or ammo refill. This is the only goddamn thing that stinks 
about this weapon.

DUAL BLADES - these "babies" are Rayne's bread and butter (like Dante's 
Ebony and Ivory in Devil May Cry). Rayne will use these blades 
throughout the entire game, come rain or shine. 
Unfortunately, the weapons do not have any exclusive upgrades nor can 
they be switched. Sucks to be her.

CARPATHIAN DRAGONS - these are blood-powered Guns that Rayne acquires 
midway thru the first level of the game. 
To use the CD's, simply TARGET and enemy and press the FIRE button. 
There are six separate modes of fire:

Each set of modes has a different effect and can be switched using the 
SWITCH WEAPONS button. 
To Level up the guns simply use the guns until the White meter around 
the blood sphere on the HUD goes completely around. There are a total 
of two upgrades per mode for increased attack power and increased 
ammunition.

To refill ammunition, Rayne must feed on enemies and then use the 
required FATALITY button to refill the guns. If the ammunition reaches 
zero, the guns can still be used but all the bullets will be drained 
from Rayne herself (which you DON'T want) so make sure to keep 
refilling the guns!

applies for both XBOX and PS2 consoles but I will refrain from using 
specific buttons (since the button layout is customizable) and stick

The onscreen HUD on the upper left side of the TV screen has two sets 
of colored bars: 

--The RED bar is Rayne's health. To refill her health, she needs to 
feed on an enemy. She can feed on all regular enemies except the ones 
armed with melee weapons. To feed off those, use kick combos to disarm 
them and then feed. 
During boss fights, enemies will come in to bother Rayne. Take 
advantage of their presence and refill either her health or ammunition 
to continue on.

--The BLUE bar is Rayne's Rage Meter. To refill Rage, simply kill 
enemies' until the meter replenishes or use Fatalities during a 
feeding.

To increase both bars, Rayne has to use the environments around her. 
All enemies that are killed with death traps, etc. will reward Rayne 
with Carnage Points. The more points she gains, the higher the bars 
increase. 
But once you finish the game and start a new one, Rayne's Health and 
Rage bars will automatically be maxed even if you didn't increase the 
bars in the last playthrough.

After defeating specific enemies and bosses, Rayne acquires a new move 
or new power to enhance her already growing list of accomplishments.


--TWISTED WIND
Rayne does a handstand and spins in a circle with those lusty legs 
(sort of like Chun Li's Spinning Wide Kick from the Street Fighter 
games).

--SILVER CIRCLET
Rayne spins in a frenzied circle with her blades killing those around 
her.

--QUIET THUNDER
Rayne does a variation of the Silver Circlet move - only with the 
Carpathian Dragons.

--SHIVA ASPECT
Rayne jumps straight up and does a homing kick.

--CURTAIN TWICE TORN
Rayne jumps straight up and strikes down with her blade with full force 
literally cutting an enemy in half.

SPECIAL POWERS:

**With the exception of AURA VISION, every power used in all Tiers 
drains Rage, so use them wisely!


TIER 1
--AURA VISION

--GHOST FEED
Rayne sends a ghost of herself to replenish her health while her 
physical self is busy kicking ass.

--ENTHRALL
Rayne can do mind-control and control an enemy for a short while.


TIER 2
--BLOOD RAGE

--BLOOD FURY
Rayne's blades become longer and can initiate an extra killer combo 
while in this mode.

--BLOODSTORM
Rayne envelops her entire Rage meter and creates a blood whirlwind that 
destroys everything in an entire room. 
Too bad you acquire this move at the very end of the game.


TIER 3
--DILATED PERCEPTION
Rayne slows down time and herself while in this mode.

--SUPER SPEED
Rayne goes into Dilated Perception mode but can move in semi-real time.

--FREEZE TIME
Rayne freezes the action and can move in real time.

Rayne encounters certain areas that are platform-like in nature in her 
settings. She can grind on rails and pipes, swing on bars, and climb 
poles.

--GRIND:
Whenever pipes or stair rails are present, use them to Rayne's 
advantage. Simply walk up to the rail (or jump on them) and she will 
automatically start sliding down (she can also walk up the rails too). 
While doing the grind (YEAH!), Rayne can shoot and slice enemies in the 
way.

--BARS AND POLES:
In a page taken from Prince Of Persia: Sands of Time, Rayne can swing 
from bar to bar and climb poles. 
Practice her platforming skills to make the best of a hectic situation.

--SCAFFOLDINGS:
In certain areas, Rayne will find scaffoldings that she can cling on to 
(like in Prince of Persia). Jump on to the scaffolding and press the 
jump button to do left to right jumps until she reaches the top.


Rayne also encounters death traps in the game. While the enemies pour 
in, Rayne can harpoon them into a specific death trap such as:

-Poles
-Fireplace
-Meat grinder
-Spinning fan

The list goes on as Rayne progresses. Use these death traps to conserve 
ammunition or to continue an objective.


++The game also incorporates the use of hidden "Vampire Lairs". These 
are doorways that can only be seen using AURA VISION. These lairs are 
only used to refill both RAGE and HEALTH and can only be used once! 
These lairs do NOT increase the Health or Rage bars so it's not really 
important for me to point them out.

some cunningly hot action. 

I will only tell you what you need to know and keep all descriptions 
direct and brief. I leave the rest to you. 

++REMEMBER! BR2's bosses and sub-bosses really don't need much pattern 
solving or strategy to defeat. The real strategy is to activate Blood 
Rage and use it until the meter empties out. Refill Rage by feeding on 
the annoying enemies that keep stopping by and continue the pattern 
until the boss dies.

OBJECTIVE: EXPLORE THE AREA
Follow the directions onscreen and head through the doorway. CUTSCENE

Jump down to the bottom hall and kill both men that enter. Once their 
dead exit the area and guide Rayne through the open doorways and rooms. 
CUTSCENE

OBJECTIVE: DESTROY ALL ENEMIES
Destroy all the enemies in this room until another cutscene occurs. 
Exit to the room upstairs.


CHECKPOINT


Head to the next room and kill all enemies until a cutscene occurs. Use 
AURA VISION to exit the room. CUTSCENE

--SUB-BOSS: MALE DHAMPIR
ACQUIRED: TWISTED WIND

Head upstairs and use AURA VISION to exit. CUTSCENE

OBJECTIVE: BURN MINIONS IN THE FIREPLACE
Harpoon everyone into the fireplace until a cutscene occurs. Exit 
through the open fireplace down to another room.

OBJECTIVE: INVESTIGATE FURTHER INTO THE MANSION
Guide Rayne through the open doorways and rooms while defeating 
enemies.

Navigate further down the rooms to another hallway.


CHECKPOINT


Navigate further until you reach the outside Courtyard. Jump and grind 
your way to the top.

Navigate further into the hallway to the next open doorway.

SAVE GAME


OBJECTIVE: ENTER EAST WING OF THE MANSION
Make your way up to the first rail across from Rayne and run to the 
first tower. Climb the pipe up and jump down. 
Use the rail to the next balcony and head down the three pole bars. 
Swing your way to the next balcony and head for the doors. 

OBJECTIVE: CUT POWER TO THE SECURITY GATE
Grind on the rails next to the door. Jump from scaffolding to the top 
and jump to the neighboring tower. Grind on the rail on this tower to 
the next scaffolding. Flip from bar to bar on to the balcony and 
destroy the two power supplies. CUTSCENE

Head back the way Rayne came back to the EAST WING. CUTSCENE

ACQUIRED: CARPATHIAN DRAGONS


SAVE GAME

Kill the enemies and exit the room


CHECKPOINT


Navigate the hallways to another outdoor Courtyard. Swing and jump 
Rayne to the top as usual while shooting fools on the way.

Whack the radio tower and grind to the next building. Follow the path 
to another roof. Destroy the billboard and harpoon the enemy on the 
other side to the railroad tracks. GRUESOME! Whack another radio tower 
and grind to the streets.

Make your way up the train roof to the top where the wounded Kestrel is

Make your way to the doorway on the other side and navigate through the 
halls while killing fools on the way. 
As you reach the other end, water sprinklers will block Rayne. Walking 
underneath them decreases Rayne's health so jump on the dry boxes on 
the side to avoid getting our lusty hero killed. Head up the stairs at 
the other end.

(BTW, there's a sick satisfying feeling of hearing Rayne getting doused 
with water as she screams her head off, mmm....) 


CHECKPOINT


Navigate the halls until a cutscene occurs. Ignore the broken walkway 
and head upstairs. Jump and flip from bar to bar until Rayne reaches 
the other side. Run down into the room to the ventilation shaft. 
CUTSCENE

Run around the ventilation shaft and jump down.

OBJECTIVE: COMPLETE THE CIRCUIT TO OPEN GATE
Toss four enemies into the circuit boards (two for each board) to open 
the gate. Exit the area and continue.

Navigate through the rooms and head for the stairs on the other side. 
Head up the stairs to the door on the top floor.

Head down the hall and jump down. Navigate the stairs all the way up

Harpoon enemies out the window and jump out. Kill everyone here until a 
cutscene occurs. Kill the enemies that emerge and exit the door from

Head down to the club entrance while killing fools on the way. Jump on 
top of the booth and destroy the neon sign to continue on. Enter the

OBJECTIVE: SHORT CIRCUIT ALL FOUR SPEAKERS AT THE SAME TIME
Harpoon enemies into each speaker until a cutscene occurs.

Once that's done, head up the stairs to the top floor while killing 
fools on the way. At the top floor, enter the door on the other end and 
target the wall with the harpoon. Bring it down to continue.

**BIG GLITCH WARNING: IF YOU KILL THE TWO ENEMIES WITHOUT HARPOONING 
THE WALL ON THE TOP FLOOR, RAYNE WILL BE STUCK AND YOU WILL END UP 
HAVING TO RESTART THE LEVEL.

Head up the rubble to the roof. Head for the other side and head 
directly for the scaffolding across from Rayne. Jump the scaffolding to 
the top.

area to the next balcony. Run up to the spiral staircase and head up to 
the Gear Room of the Clock Tower.

Navigate the walkway to the next area. You CANNOT jump past the burning 
canister. On the wall at the other end is a pipe. Climb it up and jump 
and flip your way to the upper walkway. Grind on down and continue 
navigating.

Kill all the enemies until the door opens. Exit and continue on.

Follow the path and cut the wooden bar on the right side to release a 
bunch of steel pipes. Continue down the stairs and head for the sub-
machine gun. 

OBJECTIVE: DESTROY THE WATERFALL BARRIER
Use the sub-machine gun and start blasting the yellow gas tanks on the 
left and right side. CUTSCENE

Mow down all enemies that approach and then release the gun. Head for 
the scaffolding where the waterfall gate crashed at. Jump your way to 
the top. Continue on the metal walkway into the next room and exit.

Continue navigating the area and killing enemies.

Continue navigating until the metal walkway explodes. Grind on down to 
the bottom floor and continue. Head to the sub-machine gun and use it 
if you need to. 

In front of the sub-machine gun are some pipes. Jump and flip your way 
to the top and continue. Navigate further down until a cutscene occurs.

OBJECTIVE: FIND AN ALTERNATE ROUTE TO THE WATER TREATMENT FACILITY
Kill all enemies and use the sub-machine gun to blow up the yellow gas 
tanks. Jump through the large gap that is created to a rail-grinding 
mini-game. Hold the attack button to slice enemies in the way. 
At the last second, press the jump button to grab hold of some pipes. 
Flip your way to the ground and continue on.

Watch the cutscene and jump down to the lower levels. Kill all suicide 
bombers until a cutscene occurs.

OBJECTIVE: SHUT DOWN THE WEST WATER PUMP
Use the scaffolding to head up to WEST water pump room. Enter the room 
and whack the switch near the pillar to stop the water and then exit.

Head for the EAST room across from the WEST room and enter the pump

Use Dilated Perception to slow down the raging water and hightail it!

Shoot down both metal walkways and double jump to each one to the other 
side. Climb the pipes and continue jumping to the other side. Exit the 
area and knock down the steel pipes. Grind down the stairs and continue 
on.

Run past the metal bridge until a cutscene occurs. Head through the 
broken gate to a huge cracked wall.

OBJECTIVE: DESTROY THE WEAKENED WALL
Harpoon six suicide bombers into the cracked wall to blow it open and 
exit.

Use the submachine gun and blast the two yellow gas tanks. CUTSCENE

Use the scaffolding to Rayne's left and jump and grind to the other 
side. Use the scaffolding on this side and jump to the top. Enter the 
large gap to another rail-grinding mini-game.

Grind your way to the next area and continue through.

To defeat Slezz, use Dilated Perception. First, whack the switch to 
turn on the water. When it tosses a suicide bomber, use DP and harpoon 
the bomber towards Slezz's belly. Repeat the process three more times 
to open up the beast's belly.

When the belly is exposed, jump down and enter the stomach. Use the 
harpoon to detach the heart.

Follow Severin's advice and stick to the shadows! (Although it is kind 
of sick and twisted to see Rayne get burnt to a crisp.)

Follow the shadows and head to the other side. CUTSCENE

Head inside and kill all those in the way. Head for the barred gate and 
wait for an enemy to emerge on the other side of the gate. Harpoon it 
into the red button to open the gate and then head inside to the first 
tesla coil.

OBJECTIVE: FIND THE CONTROL PANEL TO OPEN COIL B
Head to the other walkway and continue up the stairs. Navigate through 
the area until Rayne reaches the rail grind. Grind down and work your 
way up the stairs. Navigate until Rayne reaches a set of swing bars. 
Jump and swing to the other side and continue on up to the control

create a hole on the wall. Enter the hole and continue until a cutscene

Head to the next room and go up the stairs. Harpoon an enemy into each 
of the flaming torches (five in total). When that's done, jump down to 
the bottom floor and harpoon five enemies into the fiery furnace (any

Enter the door and continue upstairs.

Head on down the stairs and kill the enemies until a cutscene occurs.

Head to the door on the other side and go upstairs to the metal 
walkway. Use the trolley to the other side. Head to the control panel 
room to activate the next trolley. Get on the trolley to the other

Enter the newly opened door to the belt. CUTSCENE

Head on down the belt and jump to the swing bar and jump down. Head up 
the stairs until a cutscene occurs.

To collapse the lungs, harpoon enemies into the spikes across from the 
lungs and a blast of air will shoot them into the lung opening. Be sure 
to harpoon them when the air isn't shooting. It will take three total 
enemies to collapse the lungs.

Watch the cutscene and then jump to the scaffolding across from Rayne 
and head up. Take the elevators going up. Continue jumping and flipping

OBJECTIVE: COLLAPSE THE HEART

The Foreman will continuously keep respawning even after you kill them 
so ignore them as much as you can. 
To stop the heart, destroy the shells of all four electric circuits 
around the room and harpoon an enemy into each circuit to collapse the 
heart.

Once that's done, jump to the center of the heart. Jump to the well-
hidden pole and climb up to the elevator and go up. Continue 
platforming and taking the elevators until you reach another boss 
fight.

Ignore Ferrill and destroy all the electrical circuits. There two sets 
of electrical circuit locations - one set on the second floor and one 
on the third floor.

To destroy the set on the second floor, take the spiral stairs up and 
destroy them all one by one to disable this set (four circuits total).

To destroy the set on the third floor, Rayne must take the rails from 
the first floor and run up to the top. There are four pipes with three 
circuits each (12 total). Destroy them all to finish the level.

Watch the cutscene for the ultimate clue to defeating Ephemera. There 
are six shadow health areas that should be destroyed. There are four 
large shadow stones, one shadow pool, and one shadow gazebo.

Destroy the four stones first (destroy them completely!). To seal the 
shadow pool, harpoon the nearby stone monument to cover it up. For the 
shadow gazebo, cut off the support to let the roof collapse on it. 

NOW KICK THAT SHADOWBITCH'S ASS!!!

Use the scaffolding to destroy the first two solar rays. From there, 
double jump your way to every other ray and destroy them.

Jump to the elevator shaft and grind. Jump midway to a set of poles. 
Jump your way to the top and continue on.

Navigate through the hallways and offices until a cutscene occurs

Exit from the other side and head upstairs.

Navigate further down the floor and head upstairs. Use AURA VISION to 
spot a Vampire Lair. Use it if you need to. Head back down to the door 
with the spotlight shining on it.

Continue upstairs until you reach an office. Use the scaffolding 
outside and the jump your way to the next floor using the poles. Head

Head out through the window and grind to the next window. Continue 
through the rooms to another boss fight.

OBJECTIVE: DEFEAT ALL BIO-MECHS

To defeat this boss, use the Blood Hammer as much as possible. Refill 
when needed and continue firing at it. Climb to whatever floor is 
necessary to get close.

BIG NOTE: When firing the BH, be sure to keep strafing from left to 
right! The boss can still hit you with projectiles even while taking 
damage from the Blood Hammer.

OBJECTIVE: RESTART THE PRINTING PRESS AND JAM IT
Destroy the power switch (on the printer's right side) to turn on the 
printing press. Then harpoon one enemy into each of the printing press 
machinery (three in total) to destroy it. Once that's done, continue 
on.

Whack the four metal globes one by one into the pool to shatter the 
skylight. DO NOT HIT THE GLOBES CONSECUTIVELY! If you do, the globes 
will get stuck.

Jump through to another boss fight.

--SUB-BOSS: TRAUJEN ELITE
If you time your Blood Hammer shots right, you can blast this guy right 
out the window, making this fight very short.

Exit the room to another boss fight

This is a two-part battle. Use the Blood Hammer to destroy the four 
exposed spots of the Bio-Mech. Refill with the minions for more ammo.

Once that's done, use FREEZE TIME and harpoon both of the lower green 
spots off the Bio-Mech. Turn off FREEZE TIME and lead the Bio-Mech 
closer to the stairs. Use FREEZE TIME again and harpoon the upper green 
parts off from the top of the stairs.

made available for our lusty protagonist for different playthroughs.

any of these costumes. Nor will any of the cutscenes be any different.


#1 STANDARD OUTFIT
This is the regular costume that Rayne wears throughout the game

#2-#6 BLACK, RED, BLUE, GREEN, DRAGON GOWN
These are just different colored versions of the revealing gown Rayne 
wears in the opening level

#7 KESTREL RAYNE
Rayne is outfitted with black S&M gear with gray hair and matching 
tattoos. She also wields the multi-bladed weapons the Kestrels use.

#8 COWGIRL RAYNE
Rayne is outfitted in leather chaps with red hotpants and a red cowboy 
hat complete with hair curls. YEEHAAW!

#9 SCHOOLGIRL RAYNE
It's a boarding school outfit complete with tied-back hair, super short 
skirt, hanging cell phone, and a blue penguin backpack. Just be careful 
where you position that camera! It can get very gratuitous under that 
tight ass if you know what I mean! Hit me baby one more time, YEAH!

#10 ARMORED RAYNE
This is the most ridiculous outfit of them all. Rayne is literally 
wearing a Knight Suit (including the helmet) and wields mini-axes for 
her weapons. 
Christ, with this suit on you should take absolutely no damage at all!

Do yourself a favor and let our lusty seductress of the night try all 
of the costumes on! She'll love you for it...

--LEVEL SELECT - replay any level that you liked - 31 in total!

--MOVIES - there are three full in-game CG movies unlocked

--SLIDESHOW - view various works of development art.

--NEW GAME - when starting another brand new game, Rayne CANNOT choose 
an outfit but she will have all the powers she obtained from the 
previous completed game with her Health and Rage meters fully maxed. 
Also, when Rayne acquires the Carpathian Dragons, all gun modes are 
available with maxed out levels and ammo.

--WEIRD FACIAL EXPRESSIONS EASTER EGG
When Rayne is in any empty room or area, position her next to a wall or 
corner and rotate the camera until you get a good close-up of her face. 
Leave the camera alone and watch as Rayne moves her head around and 
starts making a bunch of facial expressions (why she does that, I have 
no idea). Sometimes she even starts talking to herself!

Rayne's full-page Playboy pictorial is NOT found anywhere in the game 
NOR is it unlockable! If you bought or rented this game thinking you 
were going to see this picture, you just wasted your cash, my friend.

If you didn't purchase your copy of October 04's Playboy issue, you 
really didn't miss much. As far as I know, finding a hi-res version of 
Rayne's topless render on the Web isn't easy but not to worry! 
I found two different hi-quality versions floating around the Web: 


--The first version is the original CG render used in the magazine. 
It's a lovely render that just can fool any wandering eye. Big rack and 
bloody blades = GOOD TIMES.

--The second version is a re-edited version of the original CG render. 
The person who re-edited the photo gave Rayne a more realistic skin-
tone and dynamic lighting on her body and enormous rack. It gives the 
photo an oiled-up and strangely (and erotically wet) realistic look. 
This re-edit fooled even me. I salute the person who did this!

"Frank Miller's Sin City". 
I doubt there any theaters (besides the cheapy kinds) still showing 
this movie but set your calendars for August 16 2005. That is when this 
movie is finally released on DVD!
