THQ Announces New MX Title
THQ Inc.--the established development house with several popular titles to its credit--recently confirmed the production of the latest installation in its vaunted Motocross franchise. The sequel is slated for a Summer release on both the PlayStation 2 and Nintendo's Gamecube; an Xbox version will surface sometime this Fall.
"After successful launches on PlayStation 2 and Xbox last year, we are now bringing our MX franchise to all the next generation systems in 2002," boasted the mundane and eerily prescient Alison Locke, executive vice president, North American publishing. Among the novel features in the renovated gameplay include an improved freestyle mode, a course editor for the stunt mode, an expanded career mode, and various mini-games. The visuals have also been bolstered: the title will feature new particle effects, reflection mapping and dirt accumulation on the riders.
