THQ Confirms Hot Wheels

THQ Inc. has announced the development of a moody futuristic racer set in the apocalyptic future. Tentatively dubbed Hot Wheels, the project is geared toward a broad spectrum of players, from the die-hards to the racing enthusiast. Beyond Games will handle the title's development.

"THQ and Beyond Games have worked together to develop a distinctive racing adventure that brings the essence of the Hot Wheels brand to life by combining wild aerial stunts, blazing crashes, huge loops and gravity-defying maneuvers with a destructible 3D Hot Wheels world," confirmed Michael Rubinelli, THQ's vice president of product development.

Hot Wheels, when complete, will offer gamers structured races in the form of a comprehensive series of missions. The storyline, heartily endorsed by developers, centers around a gang of nefarious criminals who overtake Monument City, the game's setting. Stunts are also central to gameplay. The title boasts an impressive 35 vehicles licensed by Hot Wheels.
