Metal Gear Solid 2 surpasses expected sales figures
With the European launch of Konami's Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty just around the corner, sales have continued to rise. The game has already received more than 1.5 million pre-orders in Europe, surpassing Konami's target goal of 1 million in that region.
Worldwide, Konami expects to ship over 4.5 million units by the end of the fiscal year, putting it on pace to outsell its predecessor, the original MGS, which has sold a little over 6.6 million since its release in March of 1998. With the European launch currently slated for March 8th, Konami expects sales to rise yet again in the near future.
