Universal announces Spyro for PS2 among others

Universal Interactive announced today its official 2002 lineup for the Playstation 2. The news was made from Vivendi Universal Games' First Annual Games Faire at the Chateau de Méry-sur-Oise.

"Universal Interactive is enormously proud of its successful transformation to a full-fledged publishing business model in 2001," said Jim Wilson, president of Universal Interactive. "Our diversified 2002 release schedule is a testament to our global reach, our access to one of the world’s richest studio libraries, and the talent pool we have assembled to create the highest quality interactive entertainment."

"Universal Interactive’s freshman year as a publisher produced the critically-acclaimed title ‘Crash Bandicoot: The Wrath of Cortex’ as well as ‘Spyro: Season of Ice,’ winner of a Children’s Software Revue ‘All Star’ award," said Christoper Ramboz, president and chief operating officer of Vivendi Universal Games, International. "The continued success of Universal Interactive as a multi-platform games publisher is critical to achieving the business goals set forth by Vivendi Universal Publishing in the arena of interactive entertainment."

Universal Interactive’s schedule of games includes:

  • The Thing (Q3)
  • The Scorpion King (Q4)
  • Spyro: Enter the Dragonfly (Q4)
  • Jurassic Park: Project Genesis (Q4)

Additional titles and platform extensions may be announced during 2002.
