FFXI beta testing will come to close in April

Squaresoft has announced that beta testing for Final Fantasy XI will conclude on April 24. The announcement was made on its PlayOnline website this week, as Square's latest RPG will be released on May 16 in Japan. Those that were involved in the beta testing have the option to continue their PlayOnline accounts, which also allows players to keep one saved character. These characters will have the same features as those in the retail version of the game, including the ability of complete customization. Players will be able to change their name, race, sex, face type, hair color, height, main job, faction, and host server.

No North American release date for FFXI has been announced.
