2econd Coming goes to advertising grave
Acclaim Entertainment announced today their plans of a very controversial advertising scheme for Shadow Man: 2econd Coming. The PS2 title will be promoted across gravestones of actual deceased persons in the UK starting immediately. The company is asking any relatives of the recently passed to contact them, as Acclaim is offering to reduce costs involved with the death in return for advertisement across their gravestone. Lead character in the game, Mike LeRoi, will be seen in the logo at the top of the stone. Apparently, this form of advertising falls outside the codes of conduct and regulations of any formal advertising bodies.
Shaun White, communications manager at Acclaim said, "The concept of what we're calling 'deadvertising' is entirely consistent with the theme of the Shadow Man: 2econd Coming game and provides us with a permanent presence for our advertising. Content and context are two important principles of marketing Shadow Man."
