ECTS Awards given out!
There is no doubt about it, Playstation 2 was the center of attention at the ECTS but Nintendo's Game Boy Advance was far from being forgotten. As the show came to an end, the awards for Console of the Year, Game of the Year, and many other awards were given out. Check out what they were:
Console of the Year -- PlayStation 2 (duh)
PC Hardware of the Year -- 3dfx Voodoo 5000 (can it out perform the Emotion Engine?)
Console Game of the Year -- Perfect Dark (they still don't have it in Europe)
PC Game of the Year -- Diablo II (I agree)
Reference Software of the Year -- Encarta (Encyclopedia's, who needs them?)
Publisher of the Year -- Havas (They'll be making the new Spyro games)
Best Game of ECTS -- Mario Kart Advance (I'm surprised)
Best PlayStation Game of ECTS -- Gran Turismo 2000 (rev 'em up)
Best N64 Game of ECTS -- Zelda: Majura's Mask (been there played that)
Best Dreamcast Game of ECTS -- Jet Grind Radio (I like this game)
Best Handheld Game of ECTS -- Mario Kart Advance (This one seems to be quite popular)
Best Multiplayer Game of ECTS -- Mario Kart Advance (Three awards does it for this title).
GameCube was also present at the European Computer Trade Show, so those Nintendo geeks out there I don't want to hear "if only Nintendo was there..." because they were. I'm still really shocked by Mario Kart Advance getting three titles, who would have thought, a handheld game would get the riches? Too bad Metal Gear Solid 2 wasn't playable, it would have surely gotten the award, oh well there is always E3 2001.
