PS2 and Xbox price cut?
We here at PSX Extreme have been hinting at a PS2 price cut for a while now. Months ago we stated that E3 would probably be the most appropriate time to do so, and it appears that are intuition was correct. According to the financial company Reuters, both the PS2 and Xbox will receive price cuts later this May at E3. The North American price for both consoles would drop from $299 to $199. This would, of course, coincide with the Nintendo GameCube and most likely increase sales amongst both systems. Microsoft has already reduced the Xbox's price in Australia by $135 and in Europe by $154. Sony made a similar move last year before the launch of the Xbox and GC, lowering the PS2's price in Japan. Three months later the company slashed the European PS2 by $90, making the upcoming news of a North American price cut evident.
Neither Microsoft or Sony were available to comment on the topic at its release. PSX Extreme will keep you updated with anymore information.
