PS3 announced for 2005
It was announced today by Kyodo News that Sony Computer Entertainment has already begun development for the Playstation 3. The expected completion date (NOT release date) is 2005, as the hardware focuses heavily on high-speed fiber optic Internet connectivity. With this type of technology, it would no longer be necessary to run games on disk-based media. With the Playstation 2 continuing to do as well as it is, questions have arisen to why it may be necessary to begin development for the PS3. Sony was not available for comment, however, one would assume that even in the next 3 years, internet capabilities will rise and demand for such entertainment will increase, as well. PSX Extreme will continue to cover this story.
