PS2 broadband launched in Japan
According to Sony Computer Entertainment, the Playstation 2 broadband service has officially begun in Japan. Content authorization and copy management is handled by the Dynamic Network Authentication System (DNAS) and is based on the user ID of the PS2. Users of this service can now change their network settings in accordance with the DNAS.
Upon installation, the PS2 broadband unit (HDD) takes away the option to access the memory card and the CD player features. The company has announced that a downloadable patch will be available in the future to solve this problem, as simply detaching the HDD will allow for use.
Officially titled the Playstation 2 BB Navigator Version 0.10, Sony will release more information regarding its operation in the future. We will keep you updated.
