Battle Engine Aquila announced

Infogrames has announced a first-person mech-combat game for the Playstation 2. Offering intense gameplay and detailed battlefields, players will control a prototype tank titled the Battle Engine Aqila. The machine is the single-most powerful unit on the battlefield and you must utilize its elements through the air, over ground, and across the water.

"Players will be immersed in a series of exhilarating and frenetic missions as they take part in an epic saga that sweeps across a ravaged globe," said Jean-Philippe Agati, senior vice president and head of Infogrames, Inc.ís Los Angeles studio. "Battle Engine Aquila gives gamers direct control of the ultimate weapon in a planet-wide shoot-out to create the most intense arcade experience available on consoles."

In Battle Engine Aquila, a sudden climatic change is brought on by centuries of atmospheric pollution. This reduces the continents of the earth to a series of small islands, triggering a global crisis. Tensions have built between the surviving nations, as each attempts to claim the land. Players take on the role of Hawk Aquila, pilot of the fearsome Battle Engine, a fully-armored tank with the ability to fly and coast over land.

Battle Engine Aquila is being developed by Lost Toys and will be available this winter for the PS2.
