E3 2002: Freedom: The Battle for Liberty Island announced

EA announced today that Freedom: The Battle for Liberty Island is scheduled to be released this fall. The title is a third-person action-adventure game, which plummets players into the role of a blue-collar worker who must battle against the Soviet Red Army. The location of these freedom fights is set accordingly in New York City and exhibits an alternate reality different from our own. In Freedom, the Soviet Union has won the Cold War and their army has decided to invade the vulnerable United States. As the Red Army takes over NYC, innocent Americans are being imprisoned, including the player's brother. It is your goal to recruit and lead fellow New Yorkers in an organization known as the Underground Resistance. Located out of Manhattan, liberation of the city is your main objective, as you desperately hope to rescue your brother.

Freedom: The Battle for Liberty Island provides two game modes. First, a strategic turn-based mode centering around base operations in the underground sewer is offered. Second, an action mode that unfolds in the streets where fierce battles take place is included. The game supports 4 players on the console version, as the screen will be split for accessibility. We'll keep you updated on this title.
