E3 2002: Sony announces online dates

While holding their press conference earlier in the morning, Sony CEA announced the release date for SquareSoft's Final Fantasy XI, Sony Online's Everquest, and LucasArts' Star Wars Galaxies. Evercrack...I mean Everquest is scheduled to be the first massively multiplayer online RPG (MMORPG) to be released on the PS2, when it debuts Spring 2003. Meanwhile, Final Fantasy XI seems a bit iffy as Sony merely tagged it with a "2003" release and nothing more. Lastly, Star Wars Galaxies isn't expected until next-year's holiday season, and was tagged with a Winter 2003 release.

It should also be pointed out that a brief video of Resident Evil was shown during the conference. It was not given a release date, but I'm sure it's set for sometime in 2003.
