E3 2002: SOCOM available only with bundled headset

Sony Computer Entertainment America announced today that SOCOM: US Navy Seals will officially be bundled with a voice-activated headset that correlates with the game. The set will retail for $59.99 and this will be the only way to purchase SOCOM: US Navy Seals. Scheduled to be shipped in August 2002, the game will coincide with the release of the Network Adapter.

SOCOM allows players to challenge the computer or to play with as many as 16 other gamers, as the game is available online with the Network Adapter. The ultra-light headset recognizes dozens of different words for players to use to command their US Navy seals soldiers.

The headset unfolds and adjusts lengthwise for large or small sized heads, and is said to be very comfortable to wear. For more information about online gaming, check out our Network Adapter article.
